Agreed, and I would keep calling the Redskins to keep the pressure on the Browns to make the trade.

I would rather sign a 38 year old Peters for one year and draft a tackle.

I prefer keeping our picks in case we might want to move up a few spots in the 2nd round.

All this trouble for a seventh round pick?

    Why not just cut him?

They want a 3rd. The OP suggested a 7th. No way I would give them a 3rd. We don't own a 7th this year. I would consider our very last 6th but the having to renegotiate a big deal wouldn't work for me. Maybe a 2 year prove it while we see what a rookie has as well.

I feel like the same way. He was injured recently, he's 31, and he hasn't played this year. So its like a combo of Osemele and Bell's situation from last year. Fun!

Hopefully we stay away from Williams, don't know where the OP got his 7th round pick value. Washington wants a first or second plus additional capital or a playmaker for Haskins.
Williams was great but between injuries and suspension hasn't played a full season since 2013. He wants a new deal that exceeds Luwan's $16 million per year plus $50 million fully guaranteed at signing. Better to sign Beachum back for a year at around $8 mill ,draft our LT round 1 and use the 3 Rd rounder on a Guard or center

I’d stay far away. I see no reason why the Jets should give up any pick for anyone let alone for an older player that didn’t play last year and wants a new big deal.

Ideally the Browns would trade for him.

When you add it all up, he's not worth it. The Skins aren't going to give him away, and even if he was a FA he'd demand more than he's worth. We're desperate to upgrade the OL, but not this desperate. If Douglas goes after him I'm going to start worrying that our unbroken string of GM failures will remain intact.

Under most circumstances I wouldn't trade even a 7th rounder for him. He's said to be wanting $20 million or more per season on his new deal, so the plan would have to be using him as a one-year rental. There's no way I'd pay him $20 million or even $15 million a year at age 33. The only scenario I'd trade even a 7th for him is if the plan is to play him for one year only, then let him walk following the 2020 season. Normally, I would be opposed to even that, but if Douglas plans on: a) drafting one of the top 4 OTs and playing him at RT for one season before moving him to LT in 2021; b) trading down, adding additional picks, taking one of the OTs who is rawer and needs some development for a year; c) taking a WR at #11 and either drafting a developmental LT with their 2nd round pick or drafting an LT next year, I'd be ok with making that deal.

I’m in the minority on this one. I would love to trade for him. How about a 4 this year and a pick next that would go up to a 3rd if he’s healthy.

Yeah this has Browns written all over it. The reclamation project of Greg Robinson didn't work and he just got arrested for drug trafficking anyways.

Trent Williams will be lucky to squeeze three more years out at a high level. We've been stop gapping left tackle with players like this for some time now.

the guy has been to 7 pro bowls. He is absolutely worth more than a 7th round pick. I would be psyched if the Jets landed him

I find it funny that people on this board cry and whine like a 2 year olds about how bad the OL is, but the moment a GOOD player becomes available, they want to hold on to draftpicks that are a dart throw. If you gave up #68 or #79 and somehow resigned Williams to an incentive based deal considering he hasn't played in a year and does have health concerns, it seems like a no brainer for me.

    I want him but for nothing more than a 5th rounder. He's worth it. He's only 31 unlike Kalil who's 34. He's also a former 7x Pro-Bowl. He's without question worth the risk of a 5th/6th rounder.

$20M per year is a joke. He's been injured and has not been playing as of late. No way he can expect for anything more than $10M per year on a prove it deal. 20 Million? He must be on drugs, can someone drug test this man and no I'm not talking marijuana him asking for 20M makes me feel he could be on crack, meth or bath salt...

pro bowls are a popularity contest. Usually if you have 1 good year as a lineman you are guaranteed multiple appearances.
