Schefter shuts it down pretty quick with his tweet. Oh well. It would be a good move, even though it appears unlikely now.
what was your favorite moment of the Jack Conklin era? for me it was realizing he is a right tackle not left so thinking we could still draft a left tackle in the first
at least Schefter told me now, righ tbefore I atually nutted in my pajamas. Saves me a couple tissues
Schefter is never wrong. At least he has been wrong since he was in grade school in 1982. That's what I heard.
NFL Agent 101: Always float a Jets rumor before free agency as a signal the price will be steep. NFL Agent 102: Make sure your client doesn't hear about the rumor from anybody but you because clients are hard to find and the shock of being projected to the Jets for a real quality free agent is extreme. NFL Agent 103: If you've got a guy who you can spin as tier 1 but will have trouble getting the money to that level definitely go to the Jets. They pay everybody top dollah. Sorry for the cynicism here but the Jets have been an absolute joke in free agency for a decade or so. Expecting them to make the wrong move for the wrong reasons is what we should all be doing.
Offseason rumors are no more than diversionary tactics. Someone wanted teams to believe this was a fait accompli. I will believe nothing before the ink dries and the check clears.
Ok so with just over two weeks away there is so much that can happen I'm not going to believe anything until I see the picture of a player in a Jets hat signing a contract. The Anthony Barr situation should teach us that. Ok so lets say this is true and though I'm not a fan of spending crazy money in this situation I am ok with it. The offensive line has been neglected for ten years and we need to start somewhere. At minimum we'll have three new starters maybe 5. Time will tell. Here is a thought that I have. If this happened I would be thrilled. This is my own thought not from anyone. 1. We sign Conklin 2. We sign Vaitai 3. At 11 we don't need likely the 4th offensive tackle. We trade back. Somewhere between 18-24. We pick up a 2nd and 4th. 4. At 18-24 we select Ruggs if we believe we like him that much. 5. The extra 2nd pick we trade ours or that to come back into the first round or early 2nd for Josh Jones, Austin Jackson or Cesar Ruiz. 6. Then from there we continue to address the offensive line, wide receiver, edge and corner. Obviously many things need to happen and this is a dream but I can somewhat see something like this playing out. It definitely will become clearer in two and a half weeks.
Bingo. Seems like every year the Jets get played as the team the agents use to drive up prices for their clients. Wouldn't be surprised at all if thats the case here with Conklin
