Not really true at all. Ya know it is really not that hard to figure this one out, Darnold only missed 3 games. Robby Anderson 2019 real total stats: 52 catches 779 yards 5 TDs --- Robby Anderson with Darnold (13 games): 44 catches 671 yards 5 TDs That averages out to 3.3 catches per game, 51.6 Yards per game, and 0.03 TDs -- Robby Anderson 2019 Adjusted Stats (If Darnold was healthy all year): 54 catches 826 yards 5 TDs I rounded up. that's only 2 more catches and like 40 yards more. negligible difference and certainly nowhere even close to a pro bowl season
Darnold's missed three games each of the past two years. McCown missed three as well, but he was the 11th rated passer on the NFL by passer rating in 2017. Obviously all of the cited examples had bad passing offenses (and less than 200 passing YPG, good for the worst in the league). But let's not act like RA has missed full seasons with Darnold. He doesn't produce because he's not that good in between the 1-10 yard range. He's better down the field, but he's limited.
1, 10, 50 yards IMO doesn't make a difference if a receiver is getting open. He should have been getting the ball much more. Gase indicated this a while back during one of the press conferences. I agree, Robby is not a great route runner, but he is good at intermediate out routes and has done a good job running those routes. Darnold has completed a decent # of passes to him with that route. Falk? Let's not even discuss that. Along with Trevor.
We also indicated, Darnold is not a great deep ball thrower. We also didn't look his way nearly enough. That could be due to the offensive line, but also Darnold missed him down the field on several plays. https://www.sny.tv/jets/news/jets-a...s-season-its-not-his-fault-hes-open/311130732 Also, last 37 games with a healthy QB since 2017: 137 Catches, 2174 yards, 18TDs. Thats close to 1000 yards and 8 TDs over 16 games. Check Michael Nania on Twitter. If the Jets executed better, he would have better #s. Resign this beast.
As other have said Robbie is not a wr1. His stats are good for a wr2/deep threat. I would sign him back for 12 mill per year. Anything over that I would let him walk. That's more than Tyrell Williams who has a 1000 yard season. He has a good connection with Darnold so I think he's worth it.
Tyrell Williams played with a HOF QB, and Robby did not. Context is important. This has nothing to do with being a #1, he is an integral part of the offense and opens things up underneath. If he's lining up against #2s the guy will feast. Then imagine, getting a receiver in the 2nd round to go with a healthy Herndon, Crowder, Bell, MAYBE Enunwa. Damn good set of weapons.
Tyrell Williams played with a qb that won't make the hall of fame because he doesn't have the jewelry. Regardless he had over 200 yards more than Robbie has ever had. It doesn't matter what weapons you put him with, to pay him wr1 money would put us in cap hell if we also try to fix the o line. I would offer 12 million and let him walk if he insists of 14+. O line needs to be priority. We have big contracts coming up for Adams and Darnold, not a good time to over pay Anderson by that much. Trust me I want Robbie back, but not at the cost over more important pieces.
Dan Marino doesn't have jewelry and he made the HOF, what's your point? The guy is still a HOF talent. Perhaps that would be a better description of Rivers career. Not many QBs like Rivers come around this league. I think you need to take that heavily into consideration. The majority that are anti-Robby don't consider this into their input. We need to see what the true market value is, I won't pigeon hole myself into saying 12M a year, because contracts are structured much differently in that regard. APY is kind of irrelevant because contracts can be tricky. It's about guaranteed money. Also, we shouldn't be making ANY lineman the highest paid. I would rather go after some of the guards and perhaps look to address the tackles and C position in the draft. I am hoping players like Thurney and Spain from the Bills don't require being the highest paid. I would rather avoid the Conklins and Scherffs.
I didn't say River wasn't good. He's not Marino. But I think with the amount of qbs that have won a ring and have better numbers than rivers he will be waiting for his jacket a while. Brees, Big Ben, Brady, heck even Eli will go in first (though I personally like Rivers over Eli). Thuney will be highly paid. Also I generally think avoiding Patriots linemen is a good idea. Most don't play as well elsewhere. See Nate Solder. But he will get paid. I prefer Glasgow, but regardless all those players are 8+ and we need to try to sign 2. Also need cb and edge help. Plus have about 7 of our own to resign, and depth on top of that. We have to save some for our draft picks and probably try to carry some over for the Adams deal and the Darnold deal coming up. Overpaying Robbie would be a very bad thing.
Regardless Rivers is a HOF talent, unfortunately the team just didn't show up in big games. Wherever he gets a gold jacket or not is irrelevant IMO. Williams was still catching passes from an elite QB, Robby was not. Avoid Patriots lineman is a good idea? You do remember us having Damien Woody right? They are coached by one of the greatest lineman coaches ever. Thurney hasn't missed a snap in years and rarely gives up a sack, Glasgow is nice as well, very versatile player. I would prefer any of those 2 including the Spain dude from BUF. EDGE, unfortunately I don't really see us improving this position via FA. Find some young guys with motor in the draft. CB, we will probably bring back Poole. Got a few young guys that need to continue development. There is enough money between those players. Again, don't have to worry too much about Darnold, he will get paid and Jets have a few years left with him on contract. Front-load Robby and you can probably get cap relief after 2 years. I don't mind overpaying Robby, but again numbers and guaranteed money is everything. We shall see once FA opens up!
That's what I've been saying for months now. Would become the greatest thing since the greatest show on turf. Robby Anderson on Dallas would be scary too. Prescott playaction to Zeke with Robby Anderson deep? Deadly. Aaron Rodgers would make an absolute star out of Robby Anderson. Another QB and offense who would love Robby Anderson would be Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. With Lamar's scrambling ability and ability to extend plays, Robby Anderson would have FIELD DAYS because CB's can not guard him long enough without being burned and Lamar Jackson would find Robby Anderson time and time again as he's extending plays. And if either of Watson (opposite of Hopkins) or Buffalo with Josh Allen's cannon for an arm. Forget about it. Mahomes. Prescott. Rodgers. Jackson. Watson. Allen. The list goes on and on. All of these QB's would love to have Robby Anderson; which is why SAM DARNOLD is the one who DESERVES him. An explosive offense can not go wrong with Robby Anderson; only the Jets could go wrong by allowing him to walk while screwing Sam Darnold out of one of the NFL's best speed burning deep threats.
There is zero way in hell that Rodgers would ever work with a lazy route runner that gives up midway through fly routes at times like Anderson.
You sound clueless. Aaron Rodgers has one of the best deep balls within the game today and would without question love Robby Anderson as one of the NFL's best deep threats.
Lol. It has to do with lazy route running and nothing with Anderson or Rodgers abilities. Rodgers would never put up with a player that gives up on plays. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.es...-aaron-rodgers-demands-receivers?platform=amp
Post an article about Robby Anderson being "lazy". You can't lol there's a reason why he's considered amongst the league as a top 1-2 FA WR upcoming and it's not because of "being lazy". You sound like a tool. Aaron Rodgers would turn Robby Anderson into an NFL star @ the WR position. Stop it already.
Stop calling me a fucking tool, bro. People can disagree without the name calling. Watch the games. He gives up on routes.
You posted a link of Aaron Rodgers etc, etc but couldn't provide a link of Robby Anderson "being lazy"? lololhaha @ you
Here you go. From the head coaches mouth himself. https://elitesportsny.com/2019/09/1...-coaching-points-route-running-zone-coverage/ No one said lazy as far as work ethic. I said lazy route running. He's not talented enough to have a shitty work ethic especially as an UDFA. Reading comprehension is important.
