We can't shake these vipers off our necks no matter how hard we try. Too bad the Commish won't step in. Met fans are fucked just like always. The more thing change, the more they stay the same.
Fucking Wilpons will never sell the team. And fuck Manfred’s attempt to sell the idea that it isn’t because of the Wilpon’s the sale is off.
DId anyone really expect this deal to go through? There is no way old man Wilpon would sell without ensuring that his half-wit son would run the team for the next five years and then have a continuing role in management. If you were a buyer contemplating paying this kind of money for the Mets, would you make the purchase if you knew nit-wit Jeff came along in the deal?
Wtf is this bs? Rob is the worst commissioner in all sports. I’m really sick of this guy and I want him gone! He doesn’t appear to even like the game. Leave the damn sport alone! https://nypost.com/2020/02/10/mlb-plotting-playoff-expansion-with-reality-tv-twist/
couple ways to look at that....as an organization, it can take the approach "here is our offer, either take it or not" and move on. Yes cold but sometimes necessary with certain players and positions. but if you are dealing with the all important pitching position and you have a known quantity - it may make sense to work with that player to strike a team/player friendly deal. its not easy.
The team seems to have good chemistry and seems like they genuinely like each other. Hopeful Cespedes doesn’t screw up the chemistry. It appear he’s going to have a sulky attitude with the media which can turn to teammates being asked about it. Which can turn into an unnecessary annoyance.
So supposedly Cohen wants 65% of the network and upped his offer $400 million. He wants this team bad.
The Wilpons really don't want to sell the team. They just want someone else to bankroll it while they retain operational authority.
He should just wait them out, Wilpon is 83 years old. When the old man goes, I’m sure the son will be more than ready to take the money and run.
You don't want to overreact to the first game but I think fans will have very little patience with him.
