For the first time in a very, very, long time I feel a real sense of hope for a division title for the Jets.

If Brady and soon after Belichick (he's getting up there) are gone this division could be wide open in 2020.

The Jets have to be aggressive here if they take a passive oh it's gonna take a couple of years approach and they allow Buffalo to continue to build up their team unchallenged Buffalo could be too strong by then AND Miami could be on the way up by then too.

The Jets have to make their move NOW.

The thought of BB getting TB under his wing should scare the shit out of the entire AFCE. With the trend moving towards highly mobile, strong armed QB's, I think BB could turn TB into something very very special depending on who he hires as a OC.

Don't count the Patriots out just yet. They lost on a TKO last night, not a knock out. IF Brady moves on, I can see BB going after Teddy Bridgewater or another running style QB. That of course will depend on both Brady moving on OR whomever BB gets to replace his OC who most likely will move on to a HC spot somewhere. I don't think they're done, but they are due for a retooling and if there's one guy you want to engineer this, its Belichek. Give the Devil his due.

One last thing, don't count out Gregg Williams getting an HC job offer too. His work with a patchwork Jet Defense didnt go unnoticed around the league.

This is about the fifty-fourth “the Patriots are done” thread I’ve seen in the last 20 years.

Meanwhile, I’ve forgotten what a Wild Card weekend feels like.

Bridgewater doesn't scare anyone. I doubt Williams is going anywhere. Teams are looking for established coaches now. They're veering away from unknown coordinators or coordinators with limited experience. Rightfully so

His record before Brees came back says the man can still play as a winning QB in this league. Williams has a successful run as a DC. Don't count either of those guys out. I can see both of them in different roles in 2020. No real reason for either guy to stay put if the right offer comes along. You don't want another running QB in the AFC.

I think that's the Darksider in you talking. I haven't seen anything that indicates Williams is a top choice anywhere.

Bridgewater did not light the world on fire, they won on that defense, which is much better than people think. Shoulda kept Davis, he's playing great.

Wasn't he in the running for the DC job?

It's easy to take Belichik's success with Tom Brady and think that it might be extendable to another good QB. The problem is that Brady, from his early prime to a couple of years ago, was one of the top 5 QB's ever to play the game.

Teddy Bridgewater is a good QB with real limitations. He is not strong-armed, he has an okay arm. He is no longer highly mobile although he's not a statue back there either. He is still not built to take a lot of hits although he has worked really hard on his lower body and is not piano legs any more.

I'd rather see Belichik go all-in on TB than trade up for a real franchise QB prospect. Even if it worked out for the Pats there is literally zero chance they manage to work out the kind of cap-saving schemes they had with Brady. The NFL is wise to that now and would likely take serious action against the Kraft ownership if the same odor began emanating from the next QB and cap impact.

Anyone else get aroused when Vrabel was milking the clock with brilliant schemes and BB was losing his mind?

Inb4 Patriots win AFCE next year.

Why everyone thinks they're done is beyond me. They have a great def still, good o line, I'm not convinced Brady leaves esp since they have no obvious successor. This isn't over.
The best thing you can say right now is they have to catch up to the Ravens and maybe Chiefs to come out of the AFC next year.

In any event they're still better than us. Until we can put up a fight in this division the pats will be back to riding into a 1st Rd bye again next year.

If the Pats had a level-headed Antonio Brown and/or Josh Gordon for the second half of the season, the result would have been strikingly different. I expect both BB and Brady to stay and for the Pats to go all in on bolstering their WR corps for one last run.

The Patriots were 12-4 with the #1 defense. Man I sure hope the end of our reign looks like that.

Delay of game! Offsides! Tick-tock-tick-tock-tick-tock! Belicheat to the ref in his pocket: "That's fucking bullshit (exact words)! Only I'm allowed to bend the rules! That's not fair! Change the rule book for me right now!" Out-Belichicked by a former Cheat, and he had the audacity to CRY about it. Anyone remember that smug look on his face with Harbaugh? Fuck you again, Constipated Bill. Nothing screams Narcissistic Worm louder than but, but, they can't do that! - when you do it all the time. I went to bed so happy. Woke up this morning, yep, still happy.

11 win seasons isn’t too far off the current mark, and I think Belichick can pull that off with or without Brady who hasn’t even been good the last couple years.
Defense and specials will continue to be stellar, the team will play with limited mistakes, and will continue to adjust better than anyone in the league. Oh and I don’t think the cheating attempts will subside either.

Until Belichick leaves they are the team to beat for the division.

Did you just suggest Williams is an unknown coordinator or limited experience guy?
    Am I missing something?
He’s been around forever and even has HC experience with both the Bills and Browns.

He should be our HC frankly.

Bridgewater is mobile? The most running yards he's had in a season is 209 in 12 starts as a rookie, and that was before his major injuries. Bridgewater had 31 yards rushing on 28 carries this year, he's a pocket passer at this point.
