I think that makes him the first Jet to make first team since Revis and Mangold, right?

Proud of the Prez. That is impressive with all the Jets had to go through this year. Hopefully he is locked up long-term.

Former Jet Demario Davis also made the squad.

Troy Polamalu clone. Dude is a beast and needs to be a Jet for life.

This development just put several more millions of dollars in Jamal's bank account. Can you hear that cash register ring. $$$$$$$$$$

As long as we keep doing the stupid thing and throwing ridiculous money at free agents it's going to be impossible not to do the matching thing and throw ridiculous money at our own players.

Pay Jamal, like this off-season, you have Eddie Jackson as a guideline now, show the fan base and the team that you are serious about winning and you ink your best player for the next 4 years.

Hey watch out! Didn't you know you aren't allowed to compare Adams to (dare I say his name) Troy Polamalu. You might get attacked by a mob of angry TGG Posters who say it's blasphemy to even put those two in the same sentence.

Don't worry the Jets will be stupid enough to give him outrageous money, and cripple themselves, everyone knows you can win a super bowl with a safety as your corner store.

Polamalu and Adams are very different player types. Very impactful but even though they both play(ed) SS it's like they have completely different roles. Adams is more like a rooster on the edge and Polamalu was a classic back of the box safety who might drop in coverage or move up to blitz on any play. Polamalu's speed meant that no matter where he lined up he might be anywhere else by the time the other team snapped the ball.

I think Adam's can become that type of player. He's still young and putting things together. But you are right he's not there yet. He may never get there. We won't know without more time. Only way to get more time is to extend him. I prefer we do it before the price goes up.

The fact that he can possibly BECOME that player is the exact reason why he deserves every penny. Lock him up this offseason and make him a Jet for life.

Adams has amazing range as well and I think they share some of the same skillsets, they are used much differently. That 4th down stop against the Giants, thats was a classic Polamalu type play. Perhaps if we one day get some true pass rushers here, we could see Adams do other things.

I don't think the Jets should let Adams get away from them. I'm not sure this off-season is the time to do a big deal though. The Jets have Adams under contract for next year and then 2 potential tag years before his price goes out of sight. I think exploring a mutually beneficial deal that would protect Adams from injury and give the Jets a bit of cap help long-term is probably one good way to go. Lots of guaranteed money with enough upfront to give him a huge boost 2 years before he will see that kind of money on the market is one place to start.

I don't think Adams is ever going to be a Polamalu type player with the kind of range Polamalu had. 4.33 and 4.52 are not the same type of player.

I do think he could be an amazing force on the LOS and in the box for a long time and given the Jets lack of pass rush that is probably even more valuable at the moment than a speedster would be. The guy he reminds me a lot of is Rodney Harrison, albeit he is clearly better at the same point in his career. Harrison came into the NFL as a slow 5th round pick (4.82 at the combine) but played at 4.5 speed for most of his career. He was a heavy hitter who looked to intimidate as Adams does and he had a real nose for the ball at the line as Adams does also. I expect Adams career to look like a better version of Harrison's and that's a HoF player.

They don’t have to pay him, so don’t. Wait to lock him up when it’s necessary

Locking him up early is the only way to get him on a reasonable deal. It's what most teams not named the Jets do when they have stars they want to keep.

This. IF we can get a reasonable long term deal by signing him 2 years early then do it. Otherwise, just wait.

If we can't get a reasonable deal now, then we won't get one later (unless he takes a step backward). In which case we should just trade him while his value is at its highest.
