I hate Gase. But we were 1-7 at some point. And we closed the year with a 6-2 record. Easy opponents my ass. To win 6 out of 8 in this league is a success. Kudos to Gase and Williams. Kudos to players who didn’t give up on the season.
This is eerily reminiscent of Gase’s first year in Miami. A painfully mediocre team made the playoffs and bought this guy two more years of job security. Our dumbass ownership gave him job security before he even went on this mini streak powered mainly by the defense.
Giants, Redskins, Raiders at 1 pm on the east coast, Bengals, Dolphins, Ravens, Steelers with 3rd string QB, Bills with backups. Somehow managing to lose to the Bengals and getting destroyed by the Ravens. It was the schedule.
Lots of emotional drama queens here but in reality I don’t think they are that far away, 7-9 would indicate that. now last year there were times when I thought it would be years before they compete again. They got rid of losers like Leonard Williams, Sharon Lee, Mike Mccagnan, Trumaine Johnson. They developed the QB, found a TE who can play, and replaced losers on the defense with guys who WANT to play. It was a step in the right direction.
I will agree that we took a nice step in the right direction defensively. We have the right guy in charge and a roster full of guys who play their ass off for him. If we get healthy I think we would have one of the best defensive units in the entire league. but other than uncovering Griffin, what did we learn offensively? Darnold was better but didn’t take the step that many of us thought he should and would. The OL is a trainwreck. The coach is as bad a playcaller as advertised. Production wise, we got worse. We are just as much of a mess offensively as we were a year ago today and the sole reason we hired this coach is to make sure that didn’t happen.
Pretty impressive to be honest. I mean, Sam Darnold played with Mono week 1, missed 4 weeks, then came back despite not being physically ready against the Patriots. I got mono end of sophomore year of high school. When I came back to football two months later, I lost all my gains from lifting all year and I was absurdly out of shape. No way Darnold was 100% the next few weeks when he got back.
I know you have been slitting your wrists over Adam Gase for a whole year, but to your first point, he is A reason why there are a roster full of guys who play their ass off. And production wise this team did NOT get worse. 4-12 to 7-9, that’s not worse production
Exactly. This is the softest schedule we will see in a decade, and hard to even count week 17 against backups. The Bills rode that schedule to the playoffs, while we went through one of the most miserable seasons I can remember. It was an utter disaster aside from the job Williams did with that banged up D.
Serious question, did ANY offensive player progress this year from last? Edit* I guess Griffin? But he wasn't a Jet last year.
How do you figure that? After his final quarter of last year's season, I don't think he's improved much if anything. Not the jump any of us were hoping for.
