I think this is a good assessment of things Gase needs to improve on:

    https://www.ganggreennation.com/201...es-i-would-like-to-see-from-adam-gase-in-2020

Items that jumped out at me were:
    1. Replace Loggains as OC/QB Coach. Make him the sandwich boy, or whatever if you need him on your staff, but get him away from Darnold and the offense.
    2. Hire a TRUE OC and get your hands off the offense. Decide if you want to be HC or OC. Gase's record as an offensive genius is completely unwarranted based on his record.
    3. Stop making excuses, and own your shit. 'Nuff said.
    4. Figure out how to relate to players (and the media and fans) better.
If Gase continues to do things his way, he's going to be going down the highway (or should if we had owners with a clue).

Yikes. I don’t understand why people go to such lengths to defend a guy who has been awful at his job.

Yeah. Like Rex... or Mangini.... or Bowles.... nobody ever stood up for those guys after a year either. Pity that.

All three of those guys had good first years and resumes that proved they were capable NFL minds. Neither of those things apply to Gase.

The over/under win total for this season by the press was around 7 wins. And that was without the injuries... where are we now?

Don’t you think the fact that a guy who hasn’t had an offense rank inside the top 20 since 2014 was hired as the head coach factored into the 7 win prediction?

Vegas probably factors in what Gase eats for breakfast and what brand sneaker he wears when they make their W/L predictions, so yes, his offensive rankings were definitely factored it.

I'm not an expert in coaching. But I do know that the ownership has already made the decision to keep him on for another year. So the only thing that funding billboards that makes our coach look like a clown or liking articles written by a hack or reacting to supposed burner accounts... is feed a toxic environment towards our team and our fan base.

Form the article I posted above, this summarizes the chief complaint I have about Gase this year, and why I'm concerned about him becoming a good HC:

"The uncertainties of the league make it important for teams to take advantage of the things they can control. Far too frequently the Jets failed to do that this season. Darnold missed three games. One of them was against Cleveland, a team that proved to be much weaker than many projected. The Jets weren’t competitive in that game. A few weeks later the Jets had a trip to Philadelphia off a bye. They knew there was a real chance Darnold would have to sit, but they reportedly gave their eventual starter Luke Falk minimal preparation even with the extra time to get ready for the game. There were ugly losses against bottom of the league competition Jacksonville, Miami, and Cincinnati even after Darnold returned. The season started with a blown 16 point lead against the Bills.

The injuries are a reason the Jets will be sitting at home this postseason. So are the other things I mentioned. They couldn’t control the injuries. They could control the other things."

These are things that go beyond injuries, they speak to preparation and making adjustments. It's incredible to me that a guy who has 3+ years experience as a HC would struggle with these things. His whole resume seems to shout "I'll do it my way, regardless of what the results are. If things don't work, it's because everyone else screwed up". And if he hasn't changed by now, when will he?

    However one feels about him...

Adam Gase is a piece of work...

He's Brian Billicks dumb little brother.

No way Gase hires an established or promising OC. He does that and he's hiring his replacement.

Yes, I suppose you could look at it that way. The marketing department should pick up on that. "Get your season tickets now - we still suck, but not as much as last year!"

Those would be the ones proven now to be correct.

Another childish insult from the peanut gallery with the name calling. And I suppose you want to be considered as an adult in these discussions? Grow the fuck up!

What you call "obvious hyperbole" is simply a claim you choose not to accept but decline to counter. Making up shit about hurt feelings does not bolster your argument.

Your difficulty with reading comprehension is apparently a problem for you in following the discussion to where you would claim I am speaking of my "personal feelings" on Adam Gase. I have none, I don't know the guy. My opinions on Gase are based entirely on his history and performance in the business of professional football.

    you deserved the childish insult.

That article was full of hyperbole no matter how you feel about Adam Gase.

but that’s not the reason you deserved the insult. You deserved it because you are a prick

No one is saying anything about Todd Monken taking the job over in CLE. Kitchens is worse than Gase. Gase should man up and poach Monken to call the plays. Just run the game planning.

While I really believe Gase would be much better off by getting a legit OC and letting him run the offense, I also firmly believe his massive ego will never let him do it.

Why Monken, given how Mayfield's regressed, or certainly not improved?

Monken doesn't call plays and he's handicapped in CLE. Not much say.
