you can start with the very 1st fuckin sentence "Adam Gase has a message for every long-suffering Jets fan, who has endured a lifetime of anguish: He doesn’t care about you." false, emotional nonsense
That is a different argument. The article speaks to the production of the entire offense, not that of a single player, football being a team game You may be satisfied with the performance of the team this year; most of us want better. I expect the owners do also.
False? Not according to the information in the story. What makes you claim it is false? Gase may be emotional, when he is questioned, that does not begin to approach calling the story "nonsense."
I completely agree with you except the last statement. The owners don't care as long as they make money. For proof on that I think you should look at the Idzik hire, MacCrappin hire, Bowles being here so long, Gase hire.. the fact the Johnsons haven't hired a CEO of football operations to run the team even though they have shown they know absolutely nothing about football, and pretty much everything they have done since buying the team.
Wanting better in a vacuum is not the same as expectations based on reality. It would be nice if they won a bunch more games but I’m not sure how anyone can look at the circumstances and expect much if any more.
I think that constantly referring to past errors does nothing to show current outlook. They just are not equipped to bring in the right people on their own which is why so many here have repeatedly lobbied for a football operations professional. Year to year profits of the team are almost insignificant when compared to the appreciation of the value of the team during the ownership period which is why a sale of the asset would be welcomed by most fans.
The circumstances which include a history of incompetent management and coaching? The article simply focuses on the current state of the coaching and supports that with cold, hard facts.
Fact is though if they brought someone in to run the team and we started really winning, the value of the team would increase. As much as those of us that have been fans through this garbage would hate it, ban wagon fans and the like would start buying in. Case in point - New England Patriots... most of their fans became fans during Belicheat/Brady era. Owners would make more money. But ours appear happy with what they have coming in.
at best its hyperbole. even if we don't think Mehta completely made this up*, its clearly NOT a message from Adam Gase to all Jets fans *mehta is making shit up
If football was played on a spreadsheet they would be cold hard facts. As it is they are just figures. Figures lie and liars figure.
Thing is there is most likely some shred of truth to it. There always is. But with Mehta I personally can't bring myself to believe almost all of it. The other reports I can lean more towards being truth. With Mehta he has spat so much garbage for years I just can't figure out what the true part is in anything he does so I just ignore it.
I didn’t read the article, never do with Mehta, I was disputing ralebird using statistics from year to year to claim the offense is worse this year. Not really an apples to apples comparison considering what’s happened this year and the amount of different players involved. The only constant is Sam starting the same amount of games and right now thru 12 he has improved.
I personally don't believe Gase is our guy. This year has been just a crap show anyway you look at it. But I'm still rooting for Darnold and Douglas. His stats are better this year. I think they would be much improved with a better coach and help from an o line but they are a little better... that said his last 4 game last year were outstanding and he has not put up those kinda of number since.
Production of the entire offense with 3 games of Luke Falk. I’m not defending or attacking Gase, but it’s important to consider those numbers are skewed.
I don’t know if gase is the right coach but I am not making a call based on what I’ve seen so far. The ceiling on this team was 9-7 if everything fell right. The fact that we are not in contention for the 1st overall pick days more to me than the fact that we won’t be in the playoffs. I’m pretty optimistic about the fact that we have a qb, coach and gm presumably on the same page. It’s been a while since we’ve had that.
I genuinely believe a good coach would have led us to wins over Miami and Cincy. Which means we'd be 8-7 right now, and I also think a good coach (or possibly Gase for that matter) beats Buffalo's backups and leads us to 9-7. That's even with all the bad illness/injury luck. If things also fell right, I think we'd have wins over Cleveland and Jacksonville and could finish 11-5, same as the Bills. Having said that, that's while benefitting from a very easy schedule. Which also means if we had a normal schedule, we wouldn't be 6-9 right now.
The other side is that a coach can't stop a receiver from dropping the ball (Cincy) and can't prevent a kicker from missing field goals (BUF) I don't know what we have in Gase either, but Darnold is still treading and Robby has gotten better.
Dropped passes were far from the only problem our offense had against Cincy. And I didn't say anything about the opening game against Buffalo. As for Darnold, his numbers are better than last year. But not by much, and when you factor in the level of opposing defenses, it becomes almost negligible.
Right but you're also assuming that the same coach has quality wins over Dallas, Oakland, and Pittsburgh as well. You can't really assume the same outcome for those games but also tack on a couple more because those games were far from gimmes. I wonder if Jets fans as a whole would be a happier bunch with the coach if we beat Miami and Cincy but lost to Dallas and Pittsburgh.
