This is the only part of the article worth mentioning, but we already kinda figured it'd be like this. "He has divorced himself from the defense, too. How detached has he been? On at least two occasions this spring, Gase literally had his back to the defense on the field after the offense had wrapped up practice. He chatted with people on the sideline, while Gregg Williams coached the defense. Then, Gase jogged off the field, while the defense was still practicing. He never turned around once to watch what the defense was doing. Defensive players view Williams as their leader. To them, Gase is a glorified offensive coordinator. So, Gase doesn’t deserve the credit or blame for what happens on that side of the ball."
My confidence in Gase is pretty low, but if this team were a little more healthy we would be in the playoffs right now
Jeez that Manish article is really reaching for something. I’m by no means sold on Gase, but come on... If we suck again next year, then Gase has to go. Since he’s staying next year, I have no choice but to hope for his success. 5-2 in the last half of the season is something.
If this is true - and given it's Manish, that can't be assumed - how can anyone spin this to defend Gase? And what gives it some chance of credibility, despite Mehta's reputation as a hack, is that it lines up with how he acted in Miami when he told the owner he didn't know shit, and how he's conducted his pressers here. If he had Belichick's success - or hell, even had a career winning pct. - maybe this would be tolerable, but he doesn't. Adam Gase is a "legend in his own mind", and as far as he's concerned, anyone who doubts that can go fuck themselves. What a loser.
From the Daily News article: "In fact, some people on One Jets Drive are convinced Gase or a family member has a burner Twitter account to monitor what is being written or said about him — and defend him if necessary." Okay. Who here is the Gase family member?
Manish is referring to the Twitter account @WyattV18 (Wyatt is Gase's 6 year old son and presumably not the one running the account).
Honestly the only team I'm worried about possibly giving Williams a HC job is the Browns assuming they come down from their preseason high and make Kitchens a one-and-done and try to get a do-over. But in general I think the rest of the league knows he's an All-Star d-coordinator by now and nothing more.
Rich as fuck? I mean the guy's had four years as a head coach and a few as a high-paid OC...if that's rich as fuck what's Christopher Johnson?
And you, of course, would have no problem whatsoever with someone putting words in your mouth. I'm not sorry that I prefer honesty.
We know Mehta is a weasel but at the same time he isn’t going to print something in quotes that wasn’t said. Does anyone here who has watched any of Gase’s press conferences or interviews think Gase didn’t say that or at least allude to it? He does a lot of talking for somebody who hasn’t won anything ......with Rex it at least was good natured and entertaining for the most part. With Gase not so much ......there’s a difference between a positive narcissistic personality and a negative one.
