2019 is over, and in large part has been over, regardles of how we did because we missed the opportunities earlier in the season (Bills, Dolphins, Jaguars). We would have had to gone perfect, including beating the Ravens, to even have a shot, and even then our AFC record and head to head is abysmal. 2019 has been a failure and even if we win another 1-2 games, can anyone come away happy with how this season has gone? It's ok though, CJ has already confirmed that we'll be having the same discussions next season because Gase will be back in all of his glory. Wake me up when the jets ownership finally admits to its mistake and starts letting football people make football decisions.
It didn't have to be, but when you have a roster with as many holes as it does, and a coach who doesn't know how to overcome adversity, you get the 2019 jets.
according to the statisticians there was a 4% chance if we had won yesterday - so unlikely but not impossible
So now that any chance of post-season is over - this being the Jets I pretty much already know how the rest of the season is going to go - Jets will rip off a 2 game winning streak and beat a very good team in the Ravens in order to completely ruin our draft position but at least give us some hope for the future before completely crapping out in the final 2 games to end the year on a really sour note - probably with one or two potentially significant injuries 6-10 final record, picking 10th overall and missing out on the 4 or 5 stud players in the draft a couple of whom would fill major areas of need - will probably go ahead and draft a CB (who will suck)
That's ok. I'd rather stay away from the top 6 at this point anyway. We're too prone to taking defensive tackles in those spots. The two players we're really going to miss out on are Chase Young and Andrew Thomas. Outside of that I don't see a huge drop off in non quarterbacks. I do hope that the OSU cornerback comes off the board before our pick because I don't believe in him. 8,9,10 can be a very favorable spot for the Saints, Patriots, Raiders, Titans, maybe even the Bears to move ahead of each other and take the last QB available. There are five that are considered first round prospects and then that's really it. Burrows, Tua, Eason, Fromm, Herbert. Assuming Burrows goes #1, there's four left for those teams to fight over.
Wow you must be a real youngie think of me being around since 1965 & think what I have been thru in the last 56 years
the giants at #2 (if it pans out that way) would likely take young.......they took LT with the #2 back in 81, of course 1 spot ahead of us. Unreal.
Well, Gase said that we would be playing "meaningful" games in Dec. Technically, we were "in the hunt" at the start of yesterday's debacle, so he didn't lie! ROFL!
The sound we heard yesterday was just the big stinky green foot crashing down to crush any sign of hope from Jet fans. Its crushed some of us here dozens of times.
In my mind, draft position is not as important as the guy making the selections. The overdue firing of Mike MacIdiot does now give me some hope for 2020. As you said, we have wasted two very high picks on DT who don't fit the jets 3-4 scheme. I seriously would not be surprised this offseason if the jets move DL Q.Williams to a team playing a 4-3 defense, and actually hope they do for a package. His value is still pretty high, and in the jets 3-4 defense he is no better than Foley or Anderson.
