That's the mentality of the fanbase who follows the Jets, year in year out, next year will be the same excuses, but better
Heading into 2019-2020 all I wanted as a fan were to see our Jets play meaningful football towards the end of the season. After our atrocious 1-7 start, playing meaningful football was out of the question and the season was all but over and before it started too. After winning 3 consecutive games in impressive fashion we're now playing meaningful football moving forward. Beat the Bengals today and a revenge win against Miami next week and our matchup against the Ravens will not only become meaningful but it'll have playoff implications due to a chance to improve to .500 @ 7-7 overall. All I want is to be 6-7 overall while on a 5 game win streak with the headlines being Sam Darnold vs. Lamar Jackson and our #1 ranked run defense being led by Gregg Williams/Jamal Adams vs. Baltimore's #1 rated rushing offense being led by Lamar Jackson. Today's game against Cincinnati (winless or not) is a meaningful game. It's exciting. However a loss would become a heartbreaker and an SOJ moment. I really hope to see us win today in order to set up a revenge game against Miami while on a 4 game win streak. After a 1-7 start I'm super happy to be interested in today's game.
Jets are not making the playoffs....And thats Adam Gases fault at this point...Losing to the Bills and Dolphins was and is why we are not making it this year....not to mention the uncompetitive loss to the Browns.
I understand the frustration but this season is not dead, just yet. We win today and next week and we'll have a CHANCE heading into Baltimore on a 5 game win streak.
All the teams they have to play except Baltimore are highly mediocre. The key is for someone to find the key to stopping Baltimore. The thing about the Pats is, there is at least a method for beating them if you can execute it (pummel Brady, run it down their throat, avoid turnovers), but how to beat Baltimore short of snapping Lamar's leg off at the hip? They've sucked me in again. Ron
I wish. ..and I mean this. A lot of you would stop falling for the dumbshit from this team. Stop drinking the same Koolaide as the Johnson's. It's obvious. It amazes me how easily people forget just how piss poor of a team we actually are. We very well could lose to two winless teams in the same season. Teams that had established a lot of losing and a lot of suck all around. We are getting beat down by. Playoffs. LOL These threads as of late. Yikes.
OK...that was fun for a few days, now back to reality! Our loss to the Bengals shows Joe D hasn't given up on the 2020 draft. Heck, we'll probably hand Miami another W too if that's what it takes to field something that looks like an O-line. Our new goals for 2019 is to knock off the up shot Baltimore Raven and knock the Bills out of the playoffs.
No we will win against Miami. Beat the Steelers and not even beat the Bills. Whatever gives us the least amount of draft capital while at the same time the least "morale" for the team possible. Because thats how this works.
The announcers today were in disbelief that Gase kept running up the gut, the strength of the Bengals D, and never tried exploiting the edges, the weakness of the Bengals D. They kept saying Gase HAS to start going to the edges, but nope. Just kept running up the middle for 1 yard. WTF?
Wasted Offensive downs. This was Paul Hackett, Shotty, Sparano and Now Gase. It's like they learned "Football for Dummies" where it says to do X but never adapt and never game plan accordingly.
Shotty's doing pretty well in Seattle. Helps to have Russell Wilson and a good GM, but he's still much more competent than Gase.
It would be nice if we had a rusher that was fast enough to get to the edge though and turn the corner on a rush. Le'Veon is a one cut and go type of back. He isn't going to outrun anyone so its hard to say how he would be effective in sweeps or pitches to the outside. At this point though, cant hurt to at least try it though.
