Overcome a bad first period that could have easily been worse than 2-0, and some lenient officiating to the Pens benefit.
On Thursday they got stop digging a hole for themselves. Twice they came back late vs Philly and Pitt. Don't want to keep going that route. In the rematch vs Pitt they need to play a complete game from the start.
If true should Lou look into it? Hall would be a nice addition to our offense but the Isles are going so well right now that if it isn't broke don't fix it. If we are in on Hall(assuming he is available) I would hope Lou only gives picks/prospects. I don't want to trade anyone from the big club right now.
I am repeating myself but I believe a trade will absolutely happen this season. Lou has to feel great about the team that’s on the ice and shouldn’t feel the need to hold on to prospects or picks if a proven player is available. on tertiary Isles news, I’m very disappointed to see Mike Babcock fires in Toronto. I wanted them good enough for him to keep his job as he’s not good enough to ever lead them to a Cup. Leafs can only get better. Or perhaps Keefe will be another Weight. There’s no reason to believe Dubas actually knows what he’s doing in building a team despite his ability to draft great players. Mike Millbury was also pretty great in the draft.
If they can beat the Pens tonight that would extend the point streak to 16 which would be a new Isles record breaking the15 game streak in 1982. I just hope they can play with the lead tonight instead of playing the comeback game. LGI!!!!
Disappointing that we gave a point to the Pens with a little sloppy play at the end, but a really good game otherwise. Hate to see two goals so quick into the first two periods but it never phased them. going to both the Ducks and Kings game. Ducks are probably the biggest threat of the next three games.
You would think there is nowhere to go but up for the Leafs, which is why I didn’t want to see Babcock get fired...he would have kept them right where they are. But if a team like the lightning, who are far and away more talented, couldn’t just outscore their way to a Cup, I don’t think it bodes well for the Leafs who I don’t believe have the players that can be anything but what they are. I don’t think there will be a Blues turnaround for them, even if they get an immediate bump from their excitement of Babcock being gone.
You could be right, JB. They have defensive issues, and Freddy can't bail them out all the time. Keefe seems to be deploying different units on special teams, unlike Babs, who trotted out the same crew every time. Time will tell if his methods translate to more wins. Teams usually do get an initial bump from a change like this. Remains to be seen if it will carry on. 13
Good period by Varly. Had some very good opportunities in the 1st; we should be able to get them into the net at this pace.
17 straight games with a point, let's see if they can get the 2 points they should get given the margin of play.
