I have been pretty pessimistic with the Gase hire and I'm still not a believer--but seeing how were stuck with him for at least another year....lets look at some of the things it appears he's doing well starting from offseason. 1) Pushed out Macc (this was the right move and he seen it early) 2) Pushed for Oline during free agency (Paradis and Morse) instead of Bell (this thinking is the right way to go and it shows) 3) Has favored processes and system rather than individuals (he's gotten heat for not being personable but he's done well treating the roster equally) 4) Has been level headed despite challenges 5) We've started games excellent on offense, something we haven't done for years 6) We seem to be trending better recently despite injuries, need to continue 7) Has seemed to build a relationship with Sam 8) His system doesn't seem to be predicated on any one player, this is a good thing 9) Has let GW really own the defense and it's looked solid, this is the right way to do it I know it's tempting to stay in our pessimism, but let's hope that this guy is bright and will make the roster changes with JD to make this a respectable team. If anything, maybe we get a Mangini type that adds a good talent base at the least.
Not only that, but now 4 straight opening drives with a touchdown. Those plays are usually scripted based off what you think will work against the defense. So that's a sign if good coaching even of you hate the man. I also noticed he got a lot of praise from the players after this game.
Eh.........he’s sill a below average coach riding the coattails of his one season with Peyton Manning
Overall, I do see some changes, like Sam moving out of the pocket more, but is that Gase or Sam? I still don't see Gase utilizing multiple RB sets, or using Bell effectively. I hope Gase is learning and adapting, and become a good HC, but he's not one yet.
I'm still not sold on Gase, but if the team has more games like the last two, I might change my mind. Remember, this place was on cloud nine after the Dallas game.
He does some things good and some things bad....he’s overall decent and has been dealt a shitty hand. The Fire Gase movement is ridiculous to me considering all of the challenges he’s had. I didn’t really want him from the start and would still take an upgrade in a heartbeat, but I feel like we can be competitive next season if Douglas makes the right moves. We’re stuck with him atleast one more year so might as well hope for the best
all fair points, still doesn't mean i would pick him as coach if i were in charge. But if he makes us win long term then i will get over my gut feeling. Looks like we will just have to wait until end of 2020 to see where we stand.
Terrific, we beat the two worst teams in football and now we're going to praise our awful coach. As a counter-argument, here's a list of things Gase hasn't done very well: 1. His team doesn't score any points. 2. He allows the opposing team to score lots of points.
What we’ve seen the last 2 weeks is that the team hasn’t completely quit yet. And that getting rid of Leo was a great move.
I still view him as getting fired next year after a 6-10 season. The teams looked a lot better the past two weeks after facing adversity in terms of injuries and what not. But we should still be closer in the wild card race than we are. Vs. Buffalo, @ Miami, and @ Jacksonville were all winnable games. The team laid an egg vs. Miami, gave up a 16-0 lead to Buffalo and made zero adjustments in Jacksonville. This week vs Oakland will be a good barometer of where we're at. They're a well coached football team. It's never fair to fire a coach after one year in nearly all instances. And I will continue to root for the team to win. But I don't think Gase is the answer and I think we're putting our potential franchise QB in a position where he will be 3 coaches/systems in 4 years.
I don't disagree with what you are saying but he does rub people the wrong way and doesn't seem to be a leader of men. Time will tell. Not the biggest fan but if they finish strong maybe I'll be ok. I wonder if the last two weeks are we played bad teams. The offense and Darnold are finding their groove. I think it's in the middle. Lets see when we play a team competing for a playoff spot this weekend. Be a fun game and a real test.
