Does Adams forget that the NFL is a business. A very large business. Just because you want to be here your entire career doesn't mean Douglas is now stuck with you lol I'm against getting rid of him, but he has to get off his high horse
Never forget that Football is a Business. The players are only assets to be moved around a chessboard as a means to an end. Adams now knows just how much "loyalty" he can expect no matter what conversation he may have had with his bosses. A man with his pride and potential must be absolutely miserable with all this losing. Make no mistake, no matter how much goodwill there is, the clock is indeed running on both the Jets and Adams. If Adams isn't traded and the Jets don't improve? Adams will walk and the Jets will be losers in the long run.
Thanks. I saw that one. He's frustrated and tired of losing, and obviously thought the Jets might be trading other players away. I understand that. We're all sick of the losing and incompetence. It sounds like Adams' agent lied to him. Adams needs to decide if he wants to stay here and if he trusts Douglas. I can understand not liking or trusting Gase. In the meantime, he needs to stay off Twitter and grow up a little bit. If his agent has half a brain, he needs to tell Adams that, as it will lower his value and cause some teams to not want him. He also needs to tell him that he isn't as good as he thinks as he is. He has the talent to be great, but he needs to raise his game and shut up. I'm saddened that Adams is more immature, less humble, and of lower character than I thought. Douglas may grow tired of Adams' attitude, if it doesn't stop. I wouldn't blame him if he did. I hope that at some point Douglas sits down with him and tells him to stay off Twitter and grow up, and if he doesn't, he will trade him to Bengals or the Redskins where he will be assured of more losing.
I don't blame him for getting frustrated with the incompetence and losing. He has a different GM here that has a lot of respect around the NFL. He needs to be patient and give him a chance. If not, he needs to go to his agent and to Douglas and tell him that he doesn't want to be here and ask to be traded. Meanwhile, he needs to be told to stay off social media and keep his mouth shut about the team off the field so he doesn't develop a bad rep and lessen his value, and he needs to work harder on his game.
Agreed! But I think the damage has been done and Adams will go to the highest bidder in the offseason. I think Adams is a very smart guy. If he stopped before saying Douglas went behind his back, it would have been fine. His relationship with the Jets could have been repaired. But after the Osemele debacle he had to know the damage caused to Douglas and the front office in saying what he did. This was a missle fired to start a divorce. And I dont think other teams will think less of Adams for it given the perceptions of the Jet F.O. Of course if Adams fires his agent and walks back his statement then I'm wrong.
oh boy....this could boil over but what the hell..... do think its clear that he is now a chip that will certainly be dealt on or before next draft day.
You could be right. One thing to consider is that Douglas supposedly has a lot of respect around the league. If that is true, then I think teams will look much more negatively at Adams' comment and shot at Douglas this afternoon. It would be on thing if the shot was at the Johnsons, Gase, or at Mac, but taking it at Douglas is different. If I've been totally wrong about Adams, then I hope Douglas trades him elsewhere (a team as bad as the Jets or a team I hate like the Cowboys or Raiders) for a bundle of picks and Adams has to suffer on that losing team. If he's going to be a liar and whiny asshole, then fuck him. I'll give him a chance to shut up and grow up, but if he doesn't then he's dead to me.
Well, the one thing I would say to that is its a business. And Adams is doing what he thinks is right for his career. He doesnt need to pledge allegiance to the Jets. And unfortunately in the modern sports era players can act like assholes or malcontents and still have a successful career. Which is why we SHOULD celebrate guys when they do something selfless like LeVeon Bell just did:
Give Adams the same speech that the Yankees (can't remember if it was the owner, GM or Manager) gave to Mickey Mantle his rookie season when he wanted more money. It was something like "We are losing with you, and we can lose without you. Shut up or we'll trade you to the (Cubs, I think).
Is it wrong that one thought I had was he mentions Douglas by name, but not Gase? I like the tone of the post, though.
I think that he was responding to Jamal Adams. But yeah maybe they adults in the room think Gase is the problem?
Le'veon Bell is the fuckin man. I love this guy! As much as I am hating this franchise, he always gives me some form of hope. Awesome leader to have around the locker room
Feed him the rock this week! Reward his patience and sportsmanship! Total class act since he signed with the Jets.
I heard some of Joe Douglass' interview on ESPN and he basically said that if Jamal Adams is getting traded to Dallas Jamal Adams did not personally speak with him about it i.e. wanting a trade and no, he's not getting traded. Meanwhile Adams said on social media - what is wrong with this guy - that his agent told him that the Jets were shopping him. Regardless of what's going on, you would think it would be in his best interest to shut the hell up. ^I'm sure that all of this has been said already, but I'm sitting in the parking lot of goddamn Walmart getting ready to lose my mind so I didn't read any of it. I hate this place so much but I always somehow find myself in this hell on Earth. I'm actually waiting for somebody . . . Oh, thank God, here they come, I can peal the fck out of here! In fact, maybe I'll even leave them here for making me come here in the first place (tires squealing)! EDIT & P.S.: Douglass wasn't actually a mistype. Joe Douglass was a scrub WR for the Jets in the late 90s. I can't believe I subconsciously remembered that, which is why I spelled the GMs name wrong. I'm leaving it because Joe Douglass the scrub WR could slip in in the middle of the night and no-one would know the difference.
Adams has zero credibility, he doesn't get to complain he asked not to be traded when everything the dude does suggests he wants out, with all the leaks about wanting to go to Dallas, whining about the losing and favoriting social media stuff critical of the franchise. And it's telling he believes what he wants to believe (the agent) over what he doesn't (Douglas). Dude's an OBJ in the making, might as well trade him in the offseason before he blows up.
