So, Rhule could have been right. He could have turned the Jets down, then the Jets turned to Gase. You have no proof that he lied. That's only your assumption.

That is not lie. It was widely reported that Rhule was offered the job and accepted it. The Jets only went to Gase after Rhule backed out. What we don't know with Rhule and the Jets FO is waz the offer conditioned orginally on the FO choosing coaches, was there a misunderstanding or did Rhule get buyers remorse and use the coache reason as an excuse. Regardless Douglas needs to do a better job communicating and selling the offer to the next coach. What happened with Rhule should never happen.

it was "widely reported" based on Rhule's word only.

Look, I get it, I get why he would lie about it. He's a college coach he still needs to recruit. Texas, Oklahoma, etc. etc. they go into the same living rooms he does, they tell these kids don't choose Baylor, Rhule's halfway out to the NFL. This way Rhule responds with, "nah I turned the NFL down"...

all that's fine and dandy for him I guess. but its still a lie. the Jets chose Gase over him

The whole situation was ridiculous. It shows the Johnsons didn't trust Mac's ability to pick a head coach which leads one to wonder why they even retained him at that point.

No not just on Rhule's word. It was reported before Rhule spoke that there was an offer and acceptance by many outlets. Then after the rejection there was a regrouping, a reconsideration and a re-evaluation of who was left with a late move by Manning that might have shifted the 2nd choice from Monken to Gase before Gase was offered the job.

believe what you want, I guess. it blows my mind though that people are so willing to accept lies as truth. you really think the Jets gave some second rate college coach an offer and that he actually declined it???

You're the only one who is accepting a lie as truth. Worse, you're trying to get others to believe it. Noam is right. I remember how things played out.
