if it were so easy to get a team to play to its supposed potential, than how come the Saints have been underachieving for so many years? if the Saints were so good, how come nobody saw this coming...probably because Payton HAS done a great job and is definitely Coach of the Year, if for nothing else but getting this team to play up to this potential that nobody else thought they that they had except you. yes, the team has a lot of talent, but that's not a negative, especially when teams so easily underachieve. a significant part of coaching is getting teams to uncover and play to their potential. Payton winning Coach of the Year in no way undermines the great job Mangini has done.
Payton is a lock for COY. HE took a team that picked 2nd in the draft and turned them into a playoff team. Plus with all the Katrina stuff that went on and the stuff that he has done, he's got my vote!!!
Apparently, they only nominated probable playoff team coaches or Mangini would certainly be on that list. Holgrem lost in back to back weeks to the Cardinals and 49ers. As they say: "nuff said!"
If the Saints get homefield advantage in the playoffs, coming out of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, and the Jets miss the playoffs, how exactly are we getting screwed? Mangini doesn't deserve this award over Payton. Period.
Nah he meant Cardinals. They had just lost to them when he posted that. Since then they lost to the 49ers.
I agree, Payton does deserve the award over Mangini. But he's #2 in my book, without a doubt and that's not just Jets bias. This team won 4 games last year. I think Mike Nolan's done a good job as well as Parcells and Schottenheimer.
he should in no way win it... u see wat payton is doing, 2nd seed in the playoffs, the saints!!! WTF, he deserves it, mangini doesnt flat out
