The Raiders cut JJ Nelson who's even faster than Robbie. Imagine we could trade Robbie to them for a 1 and sign JJ to take up his roster spot.
Overrated lol have you read this thread? That other person to put it kindly is an outlier, it would be like anybody who said he was worth a 7th round pick. For me, the highlight video shows what we could have on a regular basis if we got an OL and probably a different OC, if we trade him off and pick up another WR how is that going to be any different for the new WR, we will still have the same shit OL and the same shit OC, he had 8 targets v NE how many of those was he truly expected to bring in?
Did I say he was a top receiver btw? I said he was probably our best WR that is on successive GM's not Robby, I think he is a better WR than Fuller who does the same jon for the Oilers and is forever injured, unlike Robby who despite what people on here have said for three years about being frail he has missed two games after getting his ankle stood on, that is hardy for a WR. He is what he is a very fast bomb catcher that can do some other stuff, contrary to popular belief he hasn't got soapy hands and is a very good ball tracker again imo, for a low third or low 4th it isn't worth trading him away, that is my point.
Hard to evaluate anything but the OL because of how many other things rely on them being competent. If you think Robby could put up good summers somewhere else, it simply means the Jets are failing him. I don’t think he’s a great receiver. I think he’s a luxury item to a competitive team. If anyone is offering a 2nd or 3rd I’m taking it.
Again, he's a free agent after this season, and if he is as good as some people think he is he will get offers from teams far better than the Jets and will be gone anyway. Also, the comp pick notion is probably an illusion, since the Jets will hopefully be signing free agents (offensive linemen who don't stink, cornerbacks who don't stink, etc., if that's even possible for this team). No team is going to trade a very high draft pick for him unless they're sure that he's going to sign with them. The problem is that a pretty good team might offer a 4th for him, and that is just the place where it's hard to know if it's worth it or not.
True but since he doesn’t have a competent o-line, I think taking away a WR who stretches the field to be an extremely bad idea. The offense would be far worse this year and could crush sams confidence.
I don’t get it. Send Robby away for a 3rd? I’m not too high on Robby but we would be lucky if a 3rd round pick was even close to Robby’s talent level. So then that must mean it’s a cap move. We have plenty of cap space, and spending $ on a 1/2 WR isn’t a bad idea unless his asking price is ridiculously high. How about the FO stop spending money on over the hill players like Osemele at $12M and Kalil at $8M? A young talented revived without an injury history? Sign me up.
Can anyone find even one post of someone on TGG overrating Robby? You guys act like because he’s not an elite WR he is worthless. He would benefit from more talent around him and gets an unfair rap on here because he has been the only threat on this team for so long which is something he shouldn’t be. Instead of giving him away the Jets should be trying to add more talent around him.
The Jets WR situation is not good. Crowder is a perfect #3. However, they don't have a #1 as Robby is not quite that and Enunwa is likely done forever, so they don't have a #2 either. Big holes to fill this off-season. The question about Anderson is "Do Douglas and Gase plan on re-signing him this off-season?" If the answer is no, at (1-5), I think trading him is the best option for the team. If the answer is yes, then keep him, and hopefully he and Sam can progress together the rest of the season. Just because Robby is not a #1, doesn't mean he can't be a great #2 in 2020 with the Jets upgrading the #1 spot. So those are the options the Jets need to be thinking about.
I’d love to see what Robby can do this year. And not judge him so far as his 1st game was with a mono-Darnold (remember Darnold’s overthrow, that was a TD, most likely overcompensated due to a lack of energy), his games with Falk, and his game vs. the best corner in the NFL at the moment. I’m thinking his average play is more like the Cowboys game, some games he gets the bomb, other games he doesn’t.
That's the problem. He's a free agent at the end of the year. We probably aren't going to put the tag on him. There is absolutely no guarantee we will have him and be able to put more talent around him. If you believe he will be more productive with a team that has weapons around him, his value might be higher on a team that already has the talent. That means we will likely have to overpay for less production until we get other talent around him. Since this team really can't stretch the field because the QB doesn't have time for long developing routes, picks that can get OL help, TE and WR who can actually beat press coverage, catch a quick slant or WR screen and break a tackle might make more sense? It's not an easy call. What would sway me if I'm the GM is Robby isn't particularly a good citizen or a guy who is trying to do all the little things that a really good teammate and NFL WR should be doing. He can as you point out, stretch the field if we had the other pieces in place. Sadly we don't.
Our hearts, who art in Foxborough, hollowed be thy username. A Patriot username to indicate Patriot fandom along with a Patriot avatar for good measure?..... "May our (Jet) prayers be answered" sounds about as valid as a 'happily-married guy' banging his whore-in-bed girlfriend on the side while making a living as a licensed marriage counselor. Wonder how many 'War Eagle' usernames you'd find on a 'Bama message board who are posing as "co-fans" .. .
You are angry. He is a Pats fan who liked Jets more than 40 years ago when Pats were irrelevant and Pats-Jets rivalry wasn’t a thing. That’s pretty normal. I believe he will be happy when we make the playoffs and will root for us unless we play the Pats.
Yet this is the same organization that made the calls to pay Leonard Williams, Trumaine Johnson, Quincy Enunwa, Osemele, Mosley fortunes. Now it's a tough call to bring back Robby. A stupid, does things @ss backwards organization. I'll tell you what a easy call is get rid of the trash. STOP bringing in or extending money hungry mercs with zero intention of helping the Jets win games, guys only here for the payday or with their eyes on things other than football/helping the Jets win games or unwilling to play through injuries.
