Maybe the best game we’ve played all season; could have possibly put it away much earlier with refs with functioning eyes.
Good win for the good guys that said can we please trade for some damn offense !!!!!! Will it ever happen ?
I can't speak for any trades but after this season the Devils Taylor Hall is a FA. If he likes this area and wants to play for a winning team then signing with the Isles makes sense for him and the team. Only concern is Hall has had a history of injuries but when healthy he is a great player who can score. I would hope Lou would look into this if the opportunity is there.
Greg I think that Trotz can work his magic and his system with anyone and yes I would love to have HALL or anyone else for that matter but unless they make some moves and upgrade the top 6 and the power play ( its the same old song nothing has changed ) the best we can expect is a possible playoff appearance and with any luck we win 1 round again and are done. The team is not that far away and imagine if they would make a move or dare I say it 2 moves they could be serious cup contenders but as they are constructed now = yes they win some games and yes the grind it out and play hard but this team needs someone next to Barzel and it needs finishers.
Hasn’t shown up the scoreboard yet but Wahlstrom and Bardreau (where did he come from?) have been great. This is a talented team. Lou should feel comfortable this season trading some of our young players stuck in the minors.
The refs were bad in this game, Isles should have not been penalized as much as they were. Anders Lee was penalized for goalie interference after taking puck to the net, he had the puck on his stick, went around defenseman, drove to the net, goalie made the stop and Lee got a penalty. Bordreau got a roughing penalty for a one handed shove against the defenseman, he was surrounded by 3 senators, it happens every game, guys get into scrums all the time in front of the net. The Barzal penalty for slashing the guys stick out of his hands was very weak as well, defenseman had one hand on the stick and they both went for the puck, he hit his stick he didn’t slash him. I remember growing up and playing hockey, we were always taught to have a strong grip on the stick, coach used to always go for our sticks to teach us the little things. I never complain about the refs but they had a bone to pick last night, and they were very biased. The clutterbuck 10 minute penalty was terrible, he was standing on the ice and the senator forward just came at him. Glad Isles pulled it out, a better team would have beat them last night with the help of the officials.
The officials have been awful against us all season. But, agreed, it was fortunate all those calls came against the worst PP team in the league.
looks like its time for a road trip,,,,,I'm going to head up to Buffalo next Saturday and watch the Islanders beat the Sabres
With the Jets having another garbage season it's nice to see the Isles rolling. Seven wins in a row but I really hope Lou can find a way to bring in another scorer. If they can upgrade the offense I think this team can make a serious run at a Cup with Trotz leading the way. What's up the schedule. We don't play again until Friday. Last week they had 4 days in a row off and then play 3 games in 4 nights. Now nothing until Friday.
