The issue is we can't get to the quarterback. The Jets' defense has been inconsistent when it comes to applying strategic pressure. For example, they have the lowest percentages of pressure in the red zone in both attempted pressure (16%) and disruption (12.2%), with zero sacks. While stopping the run is an area of success (3.25 yards allowed per attempt, second-best in the NFL), the Jets have stopped the pass only intermittently.
but if i'm reading this correct (and correct me if i'm wrong) then 75% of our blitzes in the red zone have been successful in disrupting the play even if it wasn't a sack (0 sacks) like a perfect example is adams on the blitz for the cowboys game 2 pt conversion. it was a successful blitz that stopped the play and sealed the game for us but doens't go down as a sack obviously just an in-completion. but it's a play disruption hence successful. If anything that stat says we need to blitz more in the red zone, not that it isn't working. It seems that stat also says williams prefers to go heavy zone and rush only 4 in the red zone.
I'm reading it as we suck. I had high hope that G. Williams juice the defense...as there is talent there...at least on paper. It's all Leo's fault... Our offense's stats are somewhat skewed (they say) because of playing b/u qb's...but Sam didn't help the cause with his atrocious game vs. the Pats.
It is basically saying we suck at pressuring the QB but are pretty good at stuffing the run. Who'd have guessed?
Man. After drafting 5 5Techniques in 9 years I'm so glad we can finally keep teams to 115 yards per game on the ground....
10 rushing touchdowns given up. most in the NFL http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...ategory=RUSHING&d-447263-s=RUSHING_TOUCHDOWNS
6th in yards allowed total and 2nd in yards allowed per attempt. that's pretty dam good. But we both know you don't do well with facts, you just want to be angry and make shit up to shit on the team
TDs don't mean a lot. it's why the NFL officially uses yards as a metric (fact) if you pass 98 yards down to the 1 from the 1 then take 3 times to run it in from the 1 how is that on the run defense? I gave you the actual facts
I know. so we both presented facts and yet you are the only one who claimed the other person was making shit up, lol
you presented a meaningless fact in an effort to make something look more negative then it is. an out of context number to try and prove a per-determined wrong point you were trying to make. that's called cherry picking to prove a bias or a strawman argument.
Idk... I think touchdowns are pretty important and not meaningless in football games. either way, I obviously didn't make that figure up
Our run defense has been decent enough this season. Especially considering how much time our defense has had to spend on the field. Its far from being one of our pressing concerns.
I don't know where you're getting the 75% thing from. I read it as we blitz 16% of the time in the red zone and distrupt the qb 12% of the time...those are two separate stats. they have the lowest percentages of pressure in the red zone in both attempted pressure (16%) and disruption (12.2%), with zero sacks.
it's a stat, but a stat that doesn't prove your point for anything but you are trying to force it to prove a point and failing miserably.
if we only attempt it 16% and are successful 12% then we are successful 75% of attempts. it's an oddly worded stat though and not really clear on the informaiton
Your right if you just round it up. What they are saying is if we blitz 100 percent of the time we would have been successful 75% of the time and I agree with with you this is good
