while I agree Robbie is NOT DHB as DHB actually totally sucked-----but IMO even though Robbie is at the top of our Depth chart IMO he is nothing special and an average WR at best
nobody is saying he's julio jones elite level. but he's far more then a "JAG" and would be a starter on almost every NFL team except for maybe cleveland.
Not true. Atlanta got a 2 from the Pats for Sanu. Sanu is under contract through next year. SF and Denver trade for Sanders went for far less because Sanders is an UFA at the end of this year. Both are miles better than Robbie.
Sanu is not a better WR than Robby. Put Robby in that Atlanta offense with Julio on the other side and his numbers would destroy Sanu. Sanu is as JAG as JAG gets.
There was a post earlier that suggested the Jets keep Anderson because he is a JAG. I'd have to agree. No team is going to have all 53 players become pro bowlers or all pros. Basically Anderson is a decent player - nothing special in regards to route running . I agree with the post because I believe Anderson's stats and value to the team overall would increase if he's a notch down in the pecking order so to say. The Jets need WR depth of course but really need a big go to WR - the Julio Jones, AJ Green type. The guy a QB can go to with confidence on a 3rd and 7 who can out wrestle a CB. I know they don't grow on trees but adding a WR like that would do wonders for Robby Anderson. Trading him now undermines the potential of a tantalizing WR core going forward. You can't teach blazing speed and hands to go with it…...I would rather they move on from Enunwa and replace him with a much better option.
Anderson isn't that great, maybe a #2 WR on another team. What has he ever done?? At best, I'm guessing we get a 4th rounder for him.
Yet he has over a 67% catch ratio to targets were Robbie is slightly over 53%. Robbie wouldn't get on the field in the Atlanta.
I wonder if it’s a lot easier to get open when all the defensive attention goes to the other side? What do you think? You think Gilmore, the best CB in league would be following Sanu all over the field? Sanu is as JAG as JAG gets.
Every Robbie Anderson highlight tape proves exactly what people are talking about in it being mostly fly routes... I think it's less about him being this god awful player though and more about recognizing that there is some value to be had for a guy that likely won't be a Jet next year. He's a decent player, he's just too one dimensional to resign at likely $9-11 million a year if not more.
What does open have to do with catch ratio to actual targets? He had the ball thrown to him 8 times and had 1 catch for 10 yards.
Oh, sure there was more on show than fly routes, also on show was his ability to battle for the ball and also catch a ball under double coverage and to retain the ball even under a heavy tackle, all accusations thrown at him in this thread.
he absolutely would. larry isn't the same larry but still "good enough" and a great teammate and leader. he's basically their 3rd WR. Kirk is their WR1 and robby is way better then Kirk. Kirk was their WR2 last season with brown their WR1 who they let walk and signed with buffalo. Robby would be WR1 on arizona bingo and neither is shepard who got 12 mil a year in the offseason and neither is sanders at this point in his career. Jets turned down offers of a 2nd rounder for robby from a few teams in the offseason. JD needs to get robby locked in and get a WR opposite of him maybe because a 60 yard bomb is more exciting for a highlight reel then a well ran 5 yard curl route? the fact he has so many huge plays to throw on a highlight reel is impressive and that doesn't even include everything else he does
that was on darnold. he was awful yesterday. he threw more catch-able balls to NE's DBs then he did to robby and DT combined
It’s a lot easier to catch the ball when you’re open. It’s a lot easier to get open when the defense is focusing on the other side. It’s a lot easier to get open and catch the ball when you have the best WR in the game opposite you and drawing all the attention. I’m sure it’s also helped to have Matt Ryan at QB all those years compared to the QBs that Robby has had during his career.
There really wasn't. A couple of ins and low drag routes. Yes there are some contested catch's. The majority of the plays are fly routes skinny posts and outs. You tell me champ. Would you pay Marquise Goodwin $11 million a year? This team has too many holes to not try to gain draft equity. The only rational argument for keeping him is to not shake things up for our young QB who just got rattled on Monday night. Beyond that, arguing to keep a guy who caught 50 balls last year like we're trading away Randy Moss is silly.
