True but so far so good......Edoga seems to be generating a bit more excitement than Shell did as a rookie. Let's hope it continues because it will make the rebuilding of the OL a lot easier.
Edoga scouting report said he's a good pass blocker IIRC, It was a question of how'd he do as a run blocker.
The Rain Man of head scratching trade downs. Some how ends up trading down 4 times, doesn’t draft once from the end of round 3 till the end of round 5. Ends up with five 6 round selections to select CBs with blown out knees.
cashman and edoga looking good though. so did Q yesterday. Not sure why wesco isn't getting any time. maybe not a scheme fit for gase? austin could be back in a few weeks supposedly. it's shaping up to be a good class though with edoga looking like our future RT, cashman looks like he'll be a great player as a depth ILB/special teamer/ speed package guy and Q hopefully turns out to be a beast. if austin or wesco pan out it's just the icing on the cake. I will say the polite one stings but that's what happens when you reach for need. If he stuck with BPA we could have taken scary terry who is tearing shit up in Washington despite the lack of a QB or team. in 5 games played he has 23 catches, 408 yards 5 TDs with a 17.7avg. he would be damn nice paired up with robby on the outside right now and crowder in the slot. oh well
Neither Chuma nor the rest of the starting OL got better in the last game. Their technique/abilities/scheme didn't improve overnight, that doesn't happen. The QB took less hits because the QB was Darnold and not Falk. Defenses didn't have to respect the pass with Falk back there and they rushed the OL like crazy... no OL could hold up against that amount of pressure they were seeing. With Darnold back there, he also didn't hold onto the ball as long as Falk did... aka, he knew where he wanted to throw the ball sooner, thus the defense couldn't pressure him effectively. The OL didn't improve technique wise etc.. they were an improvement as a result of Darnold being at QB.
yep. spot on. Its not like they were opening holes in the running game anyway. The only difference between the Eagles & Cowboys game is that the QB wasn't sacked 10 times, Darnold wasn't sacked 10 times because he's better at avoiding the rush than Falk was
Guy is getting some love around the interwebz Those are all pass plays though. I'd be interested to see the breakdowns of his struggles as a run blocker. Regardless, I'll take it considering he's a rookie and already excelling in one area of the game.
With his performance on Sunday against Lawrence it really makes you think WTF was this coaching staff thinking trotting Shell out there.
so mac used a high pick on a lineman and they look good? that just doesn't fit the narrative here does it. lets all bitch about polite instead
I guess the fact we have the best pair of safeties or sam darnold is also just a blind squirrel getting an acorn too? lets not forget darnold also cost us 3 2nd round picks.
What you don’t realize,Mike, is even though there have been some good picks the bad picks have been extremely bad. I mean horrible. How do you have a 2nd and 3rd that were cut without even getting snap?
