Sanchez batting seventh. Didi batting ninth. That is a foolishly good lineup.

Boone lost his mind last night. However, a hit or 2 would have gotten the win so I can't fully blame him like others have.

He's following the manual by B. Cashman. But seems to me like their analytics model says we can only gameplan for 10 innings, because after they burned through Chapman they had no chance

Yep, agreed. I kept thinking "I don't this analytics strategy" but then I thought "Hey, it could work with one more hit." but it just never came.

I know the game will be at YS tomorrow, but with Cole starting, I don't have a good feeling about it even with Severino going for us. Gerrit has been flat out dominant in the postseason so far. Sevy has a few clunkers on his postseason resume and had to pull a few Houdini's last week in Minnesota.

EncarnaciĆ³n is overdue, esp. with Stanton on the shelf.

Watching Sanchez trot to 1st on a ground ball infuriates me, if his groin is bothering him sit him, if it's his attitude problem, sit him....Romine probably would have blocked both of those wild pitches, he got lucky 1 hit the umpire

Game 2 and 3 were very frustrating. I put blame on Boone, but the hitters did not hit and obviously Verlander and Cole are great. Just little things can cost you in the playoffs and the Yankees are not doing them right at the moment. Not over yet though. This is a talented team. I still believe but as @matt robinson 17 said: Winning 3 of 4 won't be easy.

How can you blame Boone for yesterday's loss? There were plenty of opportunities for the Yanks to cash in and they couldn't get a hit with RISP. That isn't on Boone.

Yeah, I am saying I would blame Boone, but there were many other factors of why they lost both games. Pulling Green for Ottavino in Game 2 lost the game. Then using him AGAIN and he flops to make it 4-0 instead of 2-0 in Game 3. Ridiculous. Players play, managers manage, but if you make those moves and the player blows it, it can be blamed on you.

I'm not ready to wave the white flag, but that was a frustrating loss as Cole wasn't nearly as dominant as he was against the Rays. A bullpen game isn't ideal, but maybe it confuses the Astros hitters as they'll face a new pitcher each time through the order. It worked when the Rays did it. Or maybe tonight's game gets postponed and Tanaka starts tomorrow on normal rest.

No matter what happens the rest of the way, the rotation needs a workhorse. Someone who can take the ball every 5th day and go 6-7 innings, if not more. Even a great pen will become taxed if it needs to be deployed by the 5th inning of every playoff game.

They really need to sit Sanchez.

Edit: this is the first postseason loss i put on boone/cashman.

Hicks batting 3rd, sanchez batting 7th were both bad decisions.
