He did a heck of a job. Held down Lawerance pretty well and looked really solid. I guess he started last week, but I didn’t watch. I wonder if Shell can be a LT. He got action there, we will find out. Great game Chuma!
Chuma did seem to have some legit potential in this game. I hope it carries forward. That would be one less worry in the off season. Regardless, our line, will NEED to be the priority after this season is out.
The line played very well today. But I said it before and I'll say it again, having Darnold back changes everyhting, including the line. Teams are no longer stacking the box knowing we have no chance throwing the ball and are heavily relying on Bell. Will make a poor offensive line look decent when teams have to worry about the pass Not to mention the line adjustments he made today. That 92 yard bomb was an audible at the line of scrimmage.
He looked good in preseason. I feel safe saying he will be the RT for next season. 4 more lineman to go now.
Nice job by Edoga but Shell biting on that inside blitz by Sean Lee stupidly ignored his man in the process and almost got Darnold killed. .
Yeah but it won’t -“” happen next year. I think we keep at least one of our guards in Winters or Osemele and we look to get a left tackle and center. Maybe we finally get the next Mangold and Brick.
The jury is still out on Edoga. Hopefully he continues to improve and will be a part of the OL rebuild. That would be one less spot to worry about.
He held his own today. It would be helpful for him to be the answer on the RT so they could concentrate on LT and C, and maybe even another guard. But the bottom line here is that everything looked better with Sam out there. It was palpable from the word GO.
fully agree the beauty of football is how so much is interconnected It was just 1 game but you do see when teams have to defend pass and run, it makes everyone’s life easier.
It makes a difference when you have someone under center, who can read defenses, vs some scrap heap scab QB, the line will be fine going forth.
I noticed on one play early in the game the defensive player knocked Edoga backward and into the path that Bell was taking forcing him to run around him before he could cut up field. The play went for 0-1 yards. This game showed how a good QB can make up for deficiencies in the O-line. It also showed how scoring points and getting up early on your opponent helps the defense play more effectively.
it was one play, after he was thrown into the LT spot due to injury to beachum and he never played LT in his career. I'm willing to give him a pass on that mistake
well i wouldn't get too lathered up yet but the law of averages says that the jets should hit on one of these mid round OL.
