Figured it would be easier for people to track his return in one individual thread.

Last update is that Sam went in for testing yesterday and got very positive news that his spleen is reducing in size and has been cleared for a small amount of exercise.

Will go in for retesting next Monday but is confident he will be cleared to play against the Eagles.

Good thread. Since we never win against Eagles I don’t mind him sitting one more week and play against Cowboys at home.

I think he will play against Philly.

There has been a lot of talk about rushing him back, but I highly doubt he will be cleared by the doctors if they think there is still a danger for him.

A ruptured spleen is a deadly scenario. If they clear him, he will be good to go.

If so it might be for another team. On second thought, that might be a good thing for him.

I do not want Sam coming back too soon and risk further worsening his injury/illness. Obviously team doctors will examine him thoroughly, but his personal physicians and others should get involved. He is a young guy, 22 years old, no need to rush back and ruin your entire career.

The Eagles have not looked that great thus far. With Mosley in there as well, it's a winnable game, especially since Sam will be returning.

    I don't understand this theory.

A ruptured spleen is life threatening. I highly doubt any doctor would risk his life and their entire medical practice to allow him to play one week early.

If he's cleared, he's fine. If he's not cleared, he is not ready. There's no middle ground with this type of illness. This isn't a pulled muscle or sore joint. Either the spleen is not at risk, or it is.

A ruptured spleen is not that big a deal...tape it up and get him back out there by halftime

Last 2 times we've played them. Both on late FG's, IIRC.

I know my fandom has been questioned on this site but what did he do against Buffalo to give us so much hope that his return will make a difference? Is he a put the team on his back and carry them type qb or a system qb? If its system then he might as well be patient because this system... wont be around next year...Did u hear Craig Mack?

Did you not read or listen to his response to his health during week 1?

You don't just get mono one day to the next.

Darnold stated that he was up all night the night before the game with cold sweats. He stated that at best he was 80% during the game and after the game ended, his body completely shut down. So he was playing with mono and likely an enlarged spleen coming off of zero sleep.

I'd say his play in week 1 is excused. Not to mention we all thought he looked "off" during that game

I'm sure mono was part of the reason for his performance, but that O-line though... they'd better start figuring shit out real quick or it won't matter who is taking snaps behind center.
