This article sums it up and lays the finger of blame where it should be: on Gase. http://turnonthejets.com/2019/09/in...d-you-expect-jets-trampled-30-14-by-patriots/
As for the poll? I'd hire Harbaugh. He might jump at the chance to leave Michigan before they fire him.
Honestly if he had shown anything in his past to be worth a damn I would give him a pass but he has done nothing in his entire career to prove otherwise
Anyone advocating for McCarthy never watched Green Bay in the past eight or so years! Look, Gase is horrible. But remember, as many have noted here, he's made his name on being in the right place at the right time to get credit for Peyton Manning. It's the exact same thing with McCarthy, just with Aaron Rodgers instead of Peyton Manning! If it was McCarthy coaching the Jets this season instead of Gase, this board would be filled with these same exact threads instead, making the same exact comments, only with "Rodgers" instead of "Manning" like a mad libs.
No. It would not be the same. Considering McCarthy actually had a respectable resume. Gase, he was the OC for Manning that one year. Cool.
Please describe this "respectable" resume without reference to his achievements with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback. Last gig prior to Green Bay was offensive coordinator of a 49ers team that scored an anemic 14.9 points per game. What a genius!! EDIT: Not that it matters, but Gase was Peyton's offensive coordinator for two season, 2013 and 2014.
Here's why Gase is not HC material: https://www.sny.tv/jets/news/adam-g...ts-we-didnt-give-ourselves-a-chance/310864952 "We would have been alright if we would have executed some of the stuff," Gase said. "There was a few things in the run game we got to clean up, that we got to give our guys a better chance on. We just didn't give ourselves a chance. We can't go third-and-10, we go third-and-10 we don't convert." So, the problem isn't the game plan, or figuring out what the capabilities of your players are and then designing schemes/plays for that. No, the problem is those darn players just don't execute the "genius" plays! Got it!
I understand that the Johnsons aren't going to fire Gase now. They don't have the balls to do it. But if they DID, now would be the right time if they want anything positive to happen this season. Giving the new HC two weeks to at least prepare for the next game gives him a chance.
Gase is right on track to get canned. I don't know when, but what I've seen so far isn't promising. His performances have been so pitiful that we are closer than a team should be in week 4 to the "anybody but" stage.
The sad thing is today the Jets would have often been lucky to be facing just 3rd and 10. More often it was 3rd and 15, 3rd and 14, 3rd and 21 etc.
I say give him about half the season, but if we're something like 0-8 and still not scoring any offensive TDs, I say dump him, then next year go after Eric Bieniemy.
