i'll wait until after the season. more people will be extended before the year is up. it's too soon to look at free agents
Good post. We shouldn't even think about trading Adams. He's the best or one of the two best players we have. He's a fiery, inspirational leader. While Bell is great, he is older and plays RB, so I'm not sure how much trade value he'd actually have. I don't think we'd get value for him. He's too helpful for Sam's development right now, so unless some team came along and blew us away with an offer for Bell, I wouldn't consider trading him, either. I don't think we'd get value for L. Williams, either, unless a contender lost a starting DL, but since he's going to be a FA, and not worth huge money, it might be best to just take what we can get. I like the idea in general of trading older vets to get more draft picks, but the problem is we don't have any older vets that anyone would want. Beacham? No one's gonna want him even if Edoga was ready to and able to start at LT, and to my knowledge he isn't. That would also leave no depth and if Edoga went down with an injury, we'd be screwed. Kalil? No one's gonna want him. No one would want Winters or Shell, either. Someone might want Robby, but he's our best WR right now, so it would be dumb to trade him. No one's gonna want Trumaine Johnson. I doubt that anyone would want Mosley with what we're paying him. We might could have traded Avery Williamson, but not now. Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be at least a year or two before we can try to trade down or trade players and get additional draft picks.
Sorry, my friend but I can't totally agree with you on this. IMO Adams is untouchable. He's a leader, a great player, and has helped recruit FAs to come here. He is someone to build around, not discard. I think Bell should be untouchable as well. He is a great player who can help Sam immensely, and I don't think we'd get anywhere near value for him because of his age and the position he plays.
No, I wouldn't be "happy" with another 4-12 season, but if it happened because Sam missed most of the season, or Adams, Bell and Mosley missed most of the season I'd understand. Again, I have to disagree with you about nothing being off the table. We have to have something to build around. What the Dolphins are doing is insane.
I don't see how you think we could get a good score for Bell. RBs are undervalued in the NFL. Very good ones can be found in the 3rd or 4th round (or lower). Unless a SB contender loses their starting RB and has crap depth, I doubt we'd get more than a 3rd round pick for Bell.
I typically agree with this, and we may not get as good of a return as I think we would. However, the difference is, LB is probably in the top 3-4 best RB's in the league. I don't care to debate where he actually stands but he is above and beyond what others are at this current peak of his career. For that, I think he would do better than a third. Obviously if the compensation isn't worth just keeping him for the additional benefit for our offense now, no matter how stagnant it may be right now, then I am okay with keeping him. My main point, is that, as a fan, discussing these types of moves isn't really all that dumb to me. We deserve better, we've endured far too much, and I think it's okay to vent our frustrations and have these "extreme" outlooks because we do deserve better. We as fans are limited, voicing our complaints and ideas, no matter how off the wall they may sound, can be healthier than just pretending like everything will be okay and we just gotta keep being positive when this team hasn't done anything to warrant that form of treatment at this point. Something has to change, things have to get better, I'm all for voicing as a fan base, whatever may be the best outlook. No matter how bizarre it may sound at the time. That's all. I'm sure there are exceptions to this rule as well but I think anyone with common sense gets what I'm saying here.
There is no price tag or compensation that is more valuable to me than making sure 14 has every weapon at his disposal to take the next step. We are already short weapons (let alone elite weapons) on the offensive side of the ball and we are talking about trading them. That’s asinine IMO.
Next step? We are rock bottom, anything "good" at this point is the next step. It doesn't matter if we have a stud at RB and potential FQB if you don't have a capable OL or play-makers on the outside. If you can get something good for Bell, it's worth considering for me, the RB position just isn't as relevant as it once was. Today's NFL isn't reliant on a stud RB anymore, sure it helps, but it's not detrimental to success. At all. We NEED more weapons, you can't just make that magically happen without taking action to make that happen. This isn't like we are talking about trading Sam Darnold. That's a position that HAS to be there. RB just isn't as hard to find anymore. It's a fact.
You’re making it sound like we can improve the OL or get playmakers right now in the middle of the season. It can’t happen. Moving Bell right now because we most likely are going to be 0-6 is asinine and will completely hinder Sams ability to take the next step when he does return in a few weeks. We are stuck with what we have this year.
I disagree with the thread, I think we are not actually as bad as we have shown the first 2 weeks. The playoffs are a long shot now but I think as we get some pieces back (Darnold, Herndon, Mosley, Q WIlliams) we will get better as the season goes on. You can't try and develop your QB and strip him of talent, not only on his side of the ball but trading away Adams and making the Defense worse is going to hurt your QB's development also. I know its hard after the shitstorm start to the season, but hang in there, we will get better this season and we need to properly evaluate this team and where our holes are. We are going to get better as the season progresses and will probably finish around 8-8. We need to build on that, not strip away the essentials.
Bell is averaging his lowest yards per carry of his career and lowest yards per reception of his career. How in the world can anyone say he looks the same as before sitting out?
It's simple if you understand the game. The Jets' OL is pure shit. Everything Bell has gotten in the 1st two games has pretty much been on his own. He had a much better OL in Pittsburgh and he had a very good QB, not a QB who was playing with mono in game 1, and a 2nd and 3rd stringer in game 2.
Yeah, but if we can't utilize that skill set within this offense because of all the lackluster offensive weapons we have otherwise. It doesn't equate to the same level of success. Yes, we see spurts from him, but if he had a capable line and other offensive threats on this team, he would be so much more. I just don't see that with this team. Not with all the holes we have on this offense.
