Ex-Jets CB Derrick Strait was cut by the Bears on Saturday and claimed off waivers by the Panthers yesterday.

They only picked him up to rape him of his knowledge of the Jets and be a situational player. Since they aren't playing the Jets anymore and they are pretty well stocked on defense they don't need him.

    And S-m-a-l-l

Slow and small makes you E-x-t-i-n-c-t in the NFL after a short lifespan.

It seemed to me that when he would make a tackle he would usually get bumped or dragged about 3-4 yards before he brought his guy down. maybe he's not strong enough to play at this level.

hopefully he catches on somewhere though- I remember reading back when he was drafted that he had a really tough life and if I remember right was homeless for a while before his college (or maybe high school?) coach took him in and gave him a place to sleep.

I was so pumped when I first saw that we drafted him in the 3rd round. He won the award for best college DB in the country!! (forgetting the name right now...)

    What a shame...

    sigh....

I remember everyone thought he was a steal when we drafted him. Guess this is why he slipped.

I wonder if there is a record for being on the most teams in a season.

    I didn't say short, I said small.

He's 5'11 189 pounds, which is to say small by the standards defensive backs are held to these days.

He probably ranks in the bottom 30% of all the cornerbacks in the league in terms of size and even lower among safeties. Obviously he's also one of the slowest of the small guys.
