I just changed my vote to "Gets another year no matter what record" because with Sam out indefinitely it will be impossible to know how much that impacts Gase's record. So now we'll have to wait yet another year to know the answers to the two biggest questions that any team has: 1. Do you have a FQB? 2. Do you have a SB-caliber HC? I honestly don't know if I have any more time to wait.
I’ll stick by the original point. For the most part, fans have very little effect on the decision making process of an NFL front office. Even if it’s happened in some minor way from time to time.
Like I said, I stand by the original point. Or would you have me believe that the exception has somehow become the rule?
The example given negates your original point . I'm not saying that Fireman Ed gets a seat on the board...but fans can and do influence team owners. Happens all the time.
I disagree. One example where fans want to believe they influenced the situation doesn’t mean decisions like firing a coach are impacted in any way. Show me the list of coaches and GM’s who were fired specifically because fans complained. No assumptions here, actual proof that a GM or owner fired their coach or GM because fans complained. It’s just possible that maybe Idzik was fired because he was incompetent. But let’s credit the guy who paid for a billboard.
Thanks for posting these! I have never seen them before. I heard about them, but didn't get to see them. They're a thing of beauty if they helped us get rid of Idzik.
The question isn't when Gase should be fired, the question should be when will Gase and Douglas leave. Parcells was smart enough to quit and BB pretty much created the blueprint for a successful NFL head coach to get out from under the Jets before it sucked out his professional credibility, along with his soul. Gase was smart enough to tell Ross to go fuck himself. Pretty much what BB told Johnson. He came here because he saw potential in Sam. Sam is probably done for the season. Gase should probably tender his resignation and get out of here ASAP and wait for a good opening with a decent owner. This organization is a burying ground for GM's, coaches and players. The fan base is asking the wrong question. The question should be why would anyone who is at the top of their profession want to work for the NY Jets when Sam Darnold can't even be developed at this point? If Gase is any good he doesn't belong here. If he's another second rate HC he should be here for at least 4 years. The fact that Gase was willing to take the job is reason enough to support him for at least a couple of months. He doesn't deserve this shit from this self entitled fan base who thinks their life is ruined by rooting for a crappy team.
They screw this up and Darnold sees Florham Park, NJ as a developmental dead end it's worth noting: Darnold will have 2 years to go on his contract after this year, .just about when Philip Rivers should be retiring... Los Angeles 2023 (at age 25) won't be looking so bad...
yes, pending the 5th year option and yes I too would throw the bank at him as well - takes two (Darnold's sig) to tango though..
If Darnold becomes a star for any other team, provided that team isn't the Pats, I will root for that team.
