Now that Enunwa is done for the year and we traded for Thomas, as an obvious replacement, what is this board's thoughts on Braxton Berrios? Living in Miami, I watched him play on the Canes, and he has talent. Would be curious on using his ability in a similar role to a Welker/Amendola role like in New England.
There’s no place for him and Crowder on the field at the same time unless we want Darnold’s YPA to drop even further below 4.3. For now his only role is just not to drop any damn punts.
The fact that we have to care about Braxton Barrios as a WR is an indictment of the front office and coaching staff. It's still baffling to me that we only have 5 WRs on the roster with two of them being special teams guys. Now we're relying on a slot receiver, a deep threat and a 31 year old coming off a torn achilles.
Agree to an extent. Obviously the blame falls at the feet of Mac. I would hope with a full off-season next year under Gase/Douglas, we will sign/trade/draft a more talented wide receiving corps. At the same time, caring about a guy like Barrios is not necessarily a indictment on anything, but more so gauging a potentially talented receiver on your roster. He made the 53 man roster, granted, with a far less talented group of guys around him, but taking a flyer on him would not be a bad thing, in my opinion.
I'm fine with having Berrios on the squad, I think it's worth seeing what he's got. My issue is that we only have 3 actual WRs on the roster in front of him and Bellamy. I thought adding DT gave us that extra body but then we find out Q is done and we're right back where we started. This is a Gase thing... if I remember correctly he only carried 5 in Miami as well. It's an odd gameplan especially when you need to find ways to create yardage like we do. I'm shocked Burnett or Thompson didn't end up back on the team.
he's there for special teams. nothing changes. DT takes the role of Q. berrios is still our WR5/PR. I don't expect to see him play WR anytime soon
Herndon out I think is really limiting things offensively. He is a great weapon for Darnold and this 4 game suspension can not end soon enough
If Jerry Rice and Wes Welker had a baby, it would be Braxton Berrios. The kid is an absolute stud and on the cusp of being a true #1 WR.
Rooting hard for the kid, local boy from my area and seen him play in High School. Not expecting much but hopefully he is solid at returning punts.
Herndon is the one Darnold has developed the best chemistry with. Connor Hughes watched them pretty much every day in camp and mentioned what a prolific duo they may become though you probably could make a case that Deontay Burnett would have the best chemistry with Darnold, But Burnett is not on the team
Definitely, I think he's going to end up being a top tight end in this league for a long time. He's a big-bodied redzone threat that gives Darnold another safety blanket.
Loved his game tape coming out of the ACC down south here in Florida (Miami Hurricane) and loved the idea of picking him up after N.E dumped him. Plays with speed, quickness and effort. Kid looked really good out there today and his big play put his capabilities on full display.
This kid has the definite ability to be a great safety valve for Darnold to turn to the same way Cole Beasley did it in Dallas and is now doing it for the Bills. QBs need a guy who will go over the middle and take the hits.
