You might be severely overthinking things. It's a veteran receiver that is past his prime but can still contribute playing for a team with three pro-bowlers and two rotational guys that they like and have futures with the team. If the options were cut him or get a 2021 sixth, you think Belichick would choose to cut him for free? That's overthinking.
You think he was going to choose the Jets as a veteran WR if other teams came calling? This is a perfectly fine trade. Like I said I think you're REALLY overthinking this in every way possible.
hahaha yea dude that 2021 6th rounder......youre being completely irrational....The Jets didnt give up anything so how can they get burned?
He looked really good in the 4th preseason game. Seems fully healed from achilles. Just became a numbers game in NE. Somebody had to go and Gunner Olszewski is great on special teams. I think the Jets got a good receiver.
I would black list that organization for trades If I was GM. Why help the Patriots? it doesn't make any sense. Buffalo did the same thing - trading a lineman to the Patriots, how stupid
Good deal for us now and the Pats can replace Tom Brady with the 2021 6th were sending them. BB has now traded with every team in the NFL.
well hopefully its against the Patriots in 2 weeks but yeah, the way this organization drafts - 1 TD would probably be better than anything they take in the 6th. Teams like the Patriots though, they tend to get production out of late round picks from time to time
as I had 10 minutes to kill I looked at our recent draft performance in the 6th round: 2019 - Blessuan Austin - on reserve/injury list 2018 - Parry Nickerson - traded for a conditional 7th round pick Folorunso Fatukasi - appeared in 1 game (no stats) Trenton Cannon - actually played a few downs 2017 - Elijah McGuire - cut after one season Jeremy Clark - injured - waived after one season Derrick Jones - waived after one season 2016 - pick traded 2015 -pick traded for Percy Harvin who was released after one season 2014 - Brandon Dixon - released before the season started Quincy Enunwa - had a mixed career to date but certainly the standout pick Ikemefuna Enemkpali - released after punching Geno Smith Tajh Boyd - released before the season started 2013 - William Campbell - released after 1 year without playing 2012 - Josh Bush - released after 2 seasons without doing anything Pick traded to the Denver Broncos for QB Tim Tebow...... Terrance Ganaway - released before the season started Robert Griffin - released before the season started I got bored at this point but that is 18 draft picks in the 6th round with pretty much nothing to show for them so I cannot get too excited about trading one for DT
Pretty weird trade IMO. Pats were probably going to cut him anyways. Gase and DT reunite from their days in Denver and i would bet that this cuts into Qs playing time considerably.
first thing I thought is Gase hates Q....and I like Q but uhhh it is actually time to fucking do something
Have a hard time believing Belichek would trade thomas to the jets if he thought he would do anything meaningful, but we will see. Gase and DT were together in denver, so this is a good move in the sense there's familiarity. Also, I wonder if DT will take over Enunwa's role on the outside, and Enunwa will be used more like a swiss army knife and line up all over the field
