As you guys know, I have been responding in other threads for a call to calm down and wait this thing out. With that said, before we get too far in the year, I wanted to get a vibe of the board on this topic. It's very rare to call for a head coaches head after 1 year, but I'm guessing most of you have some sort of threshold that would justify firing Gase? Especially since most of the fan base is already skeptical and we hired a new GM after he came aboard. Feel free to just vote, but adding a reason for your vote is always interesting. Lets hope it doesn't come to this, but I felt this might add some good structure to emotions right now. Mods please delete if you feel this thread doesn't add value....no hard feelings
What the fuck is wrong with this fuckin fan base. Holy hell. It's week fuckin 1! This is getting ridiculous.
Did you read my post? This isn't supposed to be a SOJ poll. This is to gage expectations on the issue.
I read your post and it's still fuckin ridiculous. What are we trying to gauge? How dumb this fan base can be? A new HC loses his first game and we have a thread to see what it would take to fire him?!
He's not getting fired. How is it his fault that Mac gave him a shit O-line? Did you watch the game? With all that cap space, not one good lineman on offense was added. The O-line was the first thing in free agency that should have been addressed. We will not win many games this season, but that's OK because Mac f'd us and now he's gone. I want to see what our new GM can do in the offseason before judging Gase which will be next year.
Let's make this very clear: ADAM GASE IS NOT GETTING FIRED BASED ON THE JETS RECORD THIS SEASON. On the other hand, if Gase cannot retain a businesslike relationship with players, coaches and other team personnel, his ass is fried. Similarly, if Gase elects to tell a Johnson brother, or highly placed representative thereof, to fuck off because he believes he knows so much more about football than they do so as not to need to rationalize what happens with the team, his ass is also fried. Time will tell.
I voted for (0-16) because that would DEFINITELY call for a firing. Other than that, him and Douglas will be here for awhile. Rightfully so.
You've been here for 8 years. You just realized this place is horrible after a loss and the world is ending? If we won yesterday people would be talking about how we are going 16-0 and prime to host the AFCCG. @ OP - not taking a shot your thread. I actually think its an interesting topic to see what thethoughts are on what Gase needs to do to retain his job.
I voted 6-10. I'm annoyed by yesterday. I may change my mind if we beat the Browns. I reserve the right to be a reactionary fan.
Well, he has a pal in JD so he's not getting fired. I wonder if JD has the authority to fire Gase with this dual track org chart.
Yeah I guess that makes me the dumb one. A part of me understands with the amount of frustration this team has brought over the years, but did people actually think we were going to turn this around immediately on day one? We lost a week one match-up against an AMAZING Bills defense. Make adjustments and move on to Week 2. Talking about firing our new HC because he lost his first game is fuckin insane
I would tend to agree that 4-12 would be a hot seat. There needs to be some improvement, however minimal, from last year. I fully expect Gase to return next year with more improvements needed.
SOJP..... LOL......this would need to unravel giant style into a 1-15 gem. Though even that may not do it because a 1-15 gem will get u maximum draft position and capital to rebuild (on paper) real quick. and i think having Gase around to oversee that is not necessarily a bad thing, at this point.
ok who is the genius poster that said we would be calling for Gase's head after game one. Please come forward!
For me its anything less than 7 wins, but i think it will be 5 or less wins to get him canned this year (which is very possible given we can't kick and have no offensive line).
