Nah. Doesnt ever work that way. Its like when someone says we need our own stadium, home field advantage. I always answer, do any Giants fans ever whine about the stadium like some Jets fans insist on doing. Never happens, no Giants fan ever says it sucks that they play in our stadium. We've never played in their stadium, ever. And how are we natural rivals with a team we dont compete with other than to play each other once every 4 years? I've never looked at the Giants as a rival. Miami, yes, Indy Colts, yes, Pats & Bills yes. Even the Raiders from the old days, Giants? Why because were in the same town and the teams dont compete in any other way?
Darnold on Barrios... Yeah, I actually got to hang out with him a little bit at the combine. I got to talk to him a little bit there, unfortunately he had that bad accident with the bench press and I was actually in his group for that so that was a bummer, but obviously having him here, another good guy to have in the locker room and I know what he can do as a receiver or even returning kicks and punts, so we are happy to have him. On what type of receiver Berrios is… Yeah, he can be that same role that Jamison (Crowder) plays-that slot guy that can bounce around outside, inside, do a bunch of stuff, maybe even go in the backfield and runs some routes, so kind of a jack of all trades kind of guy. And Burnett was Darnolds guy in college supposedly..
If I rank the teams I root against in order giants are 17th behind the 15 afc teams and the cowboys. Fuck the Cowboys. I really couldn’t careless about the giants 3 out of every 4 years. And my father and brother are giant fans.
Agree, just dont get the Giants envy some jets fans have. Does seem to be from the young ones who have no idea how badly the Giants sucked for awhile. Have no idea the league threatened to take the team away from the Maras, forced them to hire Young who turned them around.
Fair enough but he would hardly say anything bad either would he lol As an outsider looking in it sometimes feels these reserve type players come in during an injury for instance rattle up 100+ yards a few TD's and then are just as quickly fucked off back from whence they came again and never really given a chance again. For instance, Edwards from the Ravens came in nabbed 715 yards with a 5.2 avg and now is in danger of becoming a 4th choice or 5th choice if you want to include their running QB lol plenty of other examples around, just seems very harsh to me sometimes, obviously you notice these more when playing FF and you see a guy have a huge game and never play again sometimes.
Also have to keep in mind this FO, HC had nothing to do with Burnett being here. They may have scouted him for Miami and Philly and didnt like him while they may have both like Barrios. Gase has already said the scouted him for Miami and liked him. Or it could just come down to Barrios is the better player without the romanticism of Darnold and Burnett played together in college.
I don’t like that they released Middleton for a guy who’s never played an NFL snap due to extensive injury history. Hopefully we can get him back on PS. Glad Dortch is back on PS. Didn’t understand that cut either.
This is a guy I'm really excited to have aboard! Matthias Farley looks like he could be a Henry Anderson like pickup for us. If it wasn't for Malik Hooker being the guy in Indy, he would still be with them. He replaced Malik when he was injured and performed very well. -Was considered a younger leader -Played well against good competition (see the plays in the highlight reel) -From a great program in Indy, originally a prospect from Notre Dame -Also plays ST I would be very surprised if this guy doesn't contribute in some facet for us! Enjoy the video!
I have no interest in the Giants and don't care what they do. But that said, when Johnson first agreed to "share" a stadium with them it was called "Giants Stadium" and was always known as that. The Jets have always been looked at as second class citizens, and this decision adds to that image, like it or not.
Actually, I think he looks like a tennis player, especially with the adidas hoodie. Hell, he might even look more like a European soccer player; I wonder if he can kick field goals?
Also true but from what we have seen of Burnett was a guy with solid hands and a guy that seemed to find the gaps but just not the opportunity to show more.
Burnett gets overrated on this board. He isn't an NFL receiver. I get it, we like guys like him that are busting their chops to try and make it. I respect him for that. But Burnett is physically limited. He's not quick/fast enough to get separation in his route and that means he will always be trying to catch balls in traffic. And he is just not big enough/physical enough to be that time of player that fights for 50/50 balls in traffic. Berrios is an upgrade because he is quicker and a more polished route runner. Like Burnett, he's not gonna win any wrestling matches in traffic - BUT he at least will get open more often. Plus he returns punts.
Yeah but we have to go on what Douglas and Gase think or saw in the combine/workouts. Who knows, I cant say Ive seen Berrios at all. They scouted him, both I assume. What we saw wasnt really much. He had 15 targets and caught 10. So really, especially if can handle returns, its pretty much a no big deal roster move.
We are still allowed to discuss it even if our management think it is the best thing to do lol I just thought he showed some promise and instead they have taken this other guy who may or may not be as good. In the Polite thread, he was derided for being a non-trier and folks at the end of the day want to see a guy bust his balls to get a spot on the team and we have just let one of those go imo. 10 for 143 obviously at an average of 14.3 a catch, his best game a 5 for 73 in a trouncing by the Pats. Anyway, I will let it fade away as I see the Titans picked him up.
