I like this move. Hines got by more on grit and smart than physical attributes. That’s the kind of player that makes a good coach.

Hines was as tough and crafty a WR as they come. Hopefully he can transfer some of his intangibles to the current group.

Seems like a nice asset, but part of me wonders why he’s not with the Steelers in this capacity.

Maybe he didn't get along with Ben? Just a guess.

Good move. I know Roby likes him a lot. I just hope Roby doesnt try to play likes Hines, otherwise we'll be looking for another WR. Stay fast Roby.

Yeah, agreed. It is surprising no one else wanted him as a Coach. Although maybe they did not get a chance. Maybe this is new to him and he was just giving it a try with the Jets and liked it. He was a great WR and has a lot of knowledge to pass to Anderson, Enunwa, Crowder, Bellamy, and Berrios.

I think this is a great hire and he will be a great addition to the CS.

At Ward's retirement press conference he mentioned Kordell Stewart and Tommy Maddox but not Roethlisberger and of the teammates at the press conference Roethlisberger was not one of them. So while they may have played together fine it does not seem they really liked each other.

Another All-Time Pittsburgh Steelers great, speaking of; is Kevin Greene still apart of our coaching staff as our OLB coach, or not anymore due to our recent coaching changes?

I remember I absolutely loved the addition of Greene to our coaching staff just as I do with having Hines Ward working with our offense. Ward was always very smart football I.Q wise and tough as they've ever came while with Pittsburgh.

Still waiting for the day Curtis Martin becomes our RB coach. With Le'Veon Bell now would be ideal however I'll continue to wait because I don't think Martin truly craves the game enough to want to coach in any way shape or form. Didn't even watch football games while a player but man was he greatness when on the field.

Hines Ward is a nice addition.

Antonio Brown didn't care for Ben. Le'Veon Bell without question doesn't give two shits about Ben. And Hines Ward obviously feels the same way towards "Big Ben".

Maybe because it doesnt have to work this way?

There are a lot of coaches coaching for teams they didnt play for

Didnt realize that, but definitely not suprising given what you hear about Ben.

Of course it doesnt HAVE TO work that way, but it more often than not does. Less likely in scenarios where regime changes sever ties a player once had with the organization, bit the Steelers are as close to the exact opposite of that when it comes to stability, so one would think he still has some close ties there.

Not so sure, how many ex players are HCs for their NFL team? How many of our explayer HC played for us? Joe Walton? No. Bruce Coslet? No. Rich Kotite? No Herm Edwards? No. Todd Bowles, No.

We had Green under Bowles, of the Ram and Steelers.

Is Ward working under Shawn Jefferson?

I dont think it happens as often as we like to think.

HEAD COACH is a bit different, thats quite an ascent there and then it also becomes a matter of timing and what’s available. Ward is basically at an entry level job.
    No big deal either way.
