I really wish we were carrying one more receiver that projected as a 1-2 outside guy. I wonder if Robbie is even resigned next year with the WRs Gase prefers.
Enunwa is 6’2” he’s absolutely not a “go up and get it” type target. He can make tough grabs but that’s way different than having the receiver you can throw a back corner fade to with confidence. Is Herndon that guy? I don’t think so but we also haven’t really seen all he can do.
Dont forget, this is a different Johnson brother. Chris wasnt running things when Macc was hired, we have no idea if the smaller scouting dept was because Woody didnt want to spend the money, seems odd given hes never been cheap anywhere else, or just the dept was set up the way Macc wanted it. So when Douglas came in and wanted to expand the scouting dept by a hefty amount apparently, Chris gave him the ok.
I disagree. I've seen him go up and get it in games. A WR doesn't have to be 6'4" or 6'5" to be a "go up and get it" type player. Enunwa has great leaping ability. That is demonstrated in the video clip below where from a standing position he leaps on top of a box that is 5'8" tall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG58FA_zbsQ From his Combine profile (he didn't do the vertical leap): http://www.nfl.com/player/quincyenunwa/2543828/combine STRENGTHS Looks the part with terrific size, long arms and an NFL musculature. Can elevate and snatch throws above his head. Strong after the catch. Sheer size and brawn to block out corners outside.
That's actually pretty funny. You're right come to think of it all the pictures I'd see of Mac standing around the practice field he would have a cup of coffee looking like he had not a care in the world....
Well that's my question: what, if anything, has been done to improve the scouting? And not just throwing money at them, although that sure helps. Was it just a lack of of money, or was it not enough scouts, or scouts who simply weren't very good at identifying talent for this team? Keep in mid too that you can't divorce talent from the scheme you want to use it in, so on that basis, was part of the problem not accounting for this aspect? Whatever the causes, I just hop that Douglas has this figured out, and his experience in coming from some well-run organizations gives me hope, whereas Macc just gave me despair.
Your point is valid, but frankly, I'm ecstatic with the newly placed focus on offense, and I recognize you can't rebuild Rome overnight. I'd love them to continue adding to the weaponry, but I'm okay with what they have right now. Hell, adding Bell was about a 500% upgrade by itself! I'd really like to see them keep looking to improve the OL as that's the weak link I see right now.
Thee crappy scouting existed long before Macc arrived, so I suspect it was Johnson's "penny-wise; pound-foolish" way of doing things. He notoriously under spent in key aspects. Aside from scouting, there is the more obvious decision of his to save money by sharing a stadium with our natural rivals, which continues be a symbol of capitulation.
I'm on the list already. I wanted The Jets to spend the draft pick on him that year. My round was off as I was wanting them to spend a 5th on him, but I think we got lucky he was on IR all last year. didn't give the P*ts a lot of time to see what they had in him.
I know that he CAN go do it but I wouldn’t put him in the category of a Plax or Dez or even a guy like Malcolm Floyd. He’s much better than Floyd, I’m just using him as an example of how other teams have that guy better than most. Hey if it gets us a ring I don’t give a shit. I like the players we have too, a lot, I just wish we had one of those types that makes ball placement a little easier on a QB
Jets Re-Sign LB Albert McClellan, Place OL Brent Qvale on IR Ethan Greenberg TEAM REPORTER The Jets have re-signed linebacker Albert McClellan and placed offensive lineman Brent Qvale on injured reserve. McClellan, who was released by the Jets Sunday, first joined the team Aug. 17 when LB Avery Williamson was placed on IR. The 6’2”, 250-pound Marshall product spent most of his eight-year career with the Ravens after signing with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent in 2010. McClellan, who has primarily been a special-teams contributor and backup, has played in 103 regular-season games (24 starts) and has notched 153 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. Qvale, who hurt his knee in training camp, has played 60 games for the Jets throughout his career and started in 14. The 6’7”, 315-pounder started two games for the Green & White in 2018. The Green & White have also added RB Josh Adams and TE Ian Bunting to their practice squad, which leaves two vacant spots on the P-squad. A 2018 undrafted free agent, Adams spent last season with the Eagles. The Notre Dame product began the year on Philadelphia’s practice squad and eventually led the team with 511 rushing yards on 120 carries (4.3 avg) and added three touchdowns. The 6’2”, 225-pounder ran for 3,201 yards and 20 touchdowns on 480 carries in three years with the Fighting Irish. Bunting signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent in May. The 6’7”, 255-pounder tallied three receptions for 32 yards in the preseason after three seasons at Michigan and one at Cal. For his career, the 23-year-old recorded 29 catches for 319 yards and no touchdowns.
Dont think so because after his first draft Macc purged the staff and hired guys he worked with. Yeah, really dont get the cheap comments though. Splitting the cost of a stadium instead of building 2 1 bil or less stadiums got two teams a 2bil dollar stadium to play in. A stadium that the TWO teams use 20 times total a year and is empty the other 345 days. Thats not cheap, thats smart. He spent a record amount for a team when he bought the Jets. Really a crazy number since he bought a team that didnt own a stadium like the other high dollars sales, Redskins. He spent near 100 mil on a practice facility where he didnt skrimp. Its gorgeous ant top flight 10 years later. He spend on players, doesnt skrimp over contracts, guarantees or bonuses. Everyone says we overpay at times just to get who we want. Think Mosely and the offer made to Cousins. We hate our owners, its one more thing we enjoy complaining about.
That seems a bit of a comedown for Josh Adams going from the Eagles RB to our PS if it is indeed the same Josh Adams, you would have thought somebody would have given him a place on a 53 man roster. edit seen the post above now lol
I'd rather we kept Burnett tbh, the kid didn't seem to put a foot wrong and caught nearly everything thrown his way, think he has been a tad unlucky to be ditched tbh, has he made to the PS or did somebody else claim him?
