The Jets have to sign some other kicker. Bertolet clearly is not good enough. Maybe the next kicker won't be good enough either, but they deserve an opportunity just like Taylor did the last couple weeks.

I agree but I was really surprised they didn't bring someone else in earlier to battle with Bertolet after Catanzaro quit

Agreed. Maybe Gase can take a super futuristic and aggressive approach and go for it on 4th down every time and always go for 2 point conversions.

I get that Gase doesn't want to bury guys publicly but Christ, how do you blame the offense for your kicker missing three kicks regardless of how far they were?

Yup. Think Harris would be a good fit here. Harris or Treadwell would be nice additions for what we'd need from them.

LB Brandon Marshall cut by the Raiders. Interesting. Think we take a swing?

He's a nice Williamson replacement but there's gotta be something else going on here. Or he just stinks now.

I was wondering if Cashman could replace Williamson while watching last night. He looked pretty good to me.

Cashman is good in coverage and always seems to be around the ball but Williamson was one of the best tacklers in the league, statistically. Going to be hard to match that. I do like Cashman though, I think he's going to be a player for us.

If we didn’t have Mosley I’d be willing to look at Marshall. Now, I’d rather let cashman get those snaps.

cashman is a 5th round rookie. he'll get snaps but i'd feel a lot better with marshall as the starter personally as a 1 year stop gap

That actually might be the best solution. There's a lot of evidence to argue for it.

rolando mcclain was just reinstated by the NFL after a 3 year suspension. Not 100% sure but i believe he is a FA. could be a good pickup as well to replace williamson

I agree we can mitigate the damage by kicking less often, but there are situations where we'll need to kick. Plus I'm skeptical about going for 2 every time because the success rate may go down when you have to run less effective plays because you ran out of your best ones.

I don’t like that practice of getting guys you heard of when you have a rookie making plays in preseason. Cashman deserves as many snaps as he can get.. we have the talent around him to cover any mistakes . Let’s grow some players.

cashman looks good so far but looks mor elike a sub LBer then he does an every down backer and that's the issue. I get the idea of not holding back young talent and fully agree with it. but cashman has been banged up, hasn't shown up as much of a run stuffer, and hasn't mentally grasped the playbook. I think he'd be better used as the nicklebacker alongside mosely and in sub packages then to be the base 3-4 ILB. Mind you i'd be more then happy if he proved me wrong and winds up starting and tearing it up

I would have cut Powell, instead of 25, 26 and 88 are better, no carries for him, neck injury for him, he's old, he doesn't play specials

powell is a better receiving back and more reliable then maguire. powell and ty will be gone next year anyway. it makes sense short term to keep powell and maguire is a JAG and easily replaceable

Powell sees carries he's taking carries away from better players, no carries or receptions for him 88 and 26 are better, both good receivers too, would have kept Mcguire he can play specials
