I really like Douglas, but the reasons we are going to be good this year have nothing to do with him. This is Macs team.
He can ask for his teammates to hit him all he wants. It will be nothing like the hits that are coming in week one.
Sorry it's a Manish link but nice quote https://nypost.com/2019/08/21/unbelievable-sam-darnold-puts-on-another-jets-show
I think Burnett is on the way out to be honest, Dortch has been better this preseason and he can fill the return role.
Just in the nick of time. We really can’t play against the Browns and Patriots without Trumaine tbh. OBJ/Josh Gordon vs Johnson isn’t a good matchup for us but it’s 1 trillion times better than Darryl Roberts.
I get that. I just don't believe Maccagnan would build a Super Bowl contender while Darnold's on his rookie contract based on his track record in the draft.
And out of it. He lacked that killer instinct to go after holes and patch or completely fix them. His OL strategy alone would have kept this team in the dark ages.
adams, maye, herndon, darnold, robby, jenkins, shell, edwards, leo all drafted by mac in 4 drafts and all are big reasons to our sucess this year if we have any. and that doens't include the rookie class where Q, cashman, wesco, and polite could have big impacts as rookies
You were doing ok until the last part. Polite and wesco are not going to have big impacts on this season. That’s not to say they won’t be important down the road but expecting or even hoping for something out of them this year is going to leave you disappointed.
If this were the 1980s Mac would be lauded for all of his blue chip selections and how the team is on the right track. Before FA. Nowadays with the draft whittled down to 7 picks and the salary cap implications a GM must prove his value before a 5 year period is up. His standards were simply too slow for building a team in today’s NFL. His qualifications as a scout confuse me. While I don’t believe he intentionally ignored or neglected the OL his lack of drafting in the lower rounds and his belief that the OL can be held together with band aids, mid level FAs, and average players while he fixed other positions is rearing it’s ugly head now. It’s fine if he didn’t feel any prospects warranted a first round selection. The problem is you can’t just sit on your hands and wait for one to drop in your lap.
