I have a feeling when all is said and done that the Vikings are going to regret giving up a 5th for Vedvik. He kicked FGs for one season in college and only hit 62.5%, things generally don't improve when moving up to harder competition.
In addition in 2 seasons his punting average against for the most part CUSA teams, not top competition by any stretch, was 41.8 yds., that would put him around 36th ranked in the NFL last year.

Yea but only if we dig him up, put him inside a pentagram, and start chanting incantations.

    Is
He was the most accurate kicker in the nfl over a 3 year span at one time. Not to mention he is familiar kicking at MetLife with the Cowboys vs the Giants.

I just think he is worth bringing in if they cut him for the guy they traded for

He's also only 31 years old, so whatever's been affecting him isn't age-related. Which means he may be due for a resurgence.

Problem is the 3 year span was years ago and since then he has put up 84.5% in 2016 and then down to 75% for 2 seasons.

In addition if you check his record at The Meadowlands and Metlife he is a whopping lifetime 64.2% FG kicker, and that drops to 50% over the last 3 seasons.

There is a reason Minny is bringing in another kicker

So a resurgence from his current 50% over the last 3 seasons in Jersey back up to his lifetime average of 64.2%?

Because a lot of teams have two good kickers and one will be cut.

If that were the case, the Ravens wouldn't have gotten a 5th round pick for a guy that has never kicked a regular season field goal and is in his second NFL season.

You might be able to find a halfway decent kicker on the scrap pile at this point, but I doubt there will be anyone "good".

And somehow Myers had a better season and made the pro bowl. More than one way to have a good K game.

Well one thing is for sure. If the Jets do sign Byrant and he shits the bed I will be taking a bunch of crap after all these posts pushing for him.

Vedvik may turn out to be a HOF, or he can be out of the league in a month, i have no idea nor do i give a shit. But your rationale for why he will fail has got to be the most ridiculous thing Ive ever read, and u actually had someone agree with you...
You are citing LEVEL OF COMPETITION as a factor for kicking FIELD GOALS???

And the CONFERENCE someone kicks in IMPACTS PUNTING AVERAGE???

Level of competition is a factor for kicking field goals. The better the competition, the quicker you have to be in your run-up, and the higher the trajectory of your kicks needs to be so they don't get blocked. It also matters for punters because in the NFL you can't boot the ball as far as you can and hope for the best; hang time, directional accuracy, and backspin/other spins matter more because the returners are much more dangerous.

So he couldn't hit 63% of his FGs in college, but facing better push from the D line in the pros, you know that level of competition thing, he's going to all of a sudden start hitting 85-90% of his FGs?

Silly me for thinking kickers are effected when it comes to playing against better players.

And what do you think will make his punts improve? You think he'll punt better because everyone on the field coming at him is larger and faster than most of the kids he played against in college?

Y'all are really having an argument over how good a Vikings kicker is going to be....

    Think about that

Another byproduct of not having qb issues to argue about.
