Something like that would be much more plausible for the Jets situation but I doubt the Jags bite. Why would they ? A 25 yr old #1 shutdown CB?
Trading for Ramsey is a no brainier. He's a game changer at a position were in desperate need of. Even if Johnson returns this season, he's no where near as good a player. The odds of drafting a player as good are extremely slim. We can afford to pay him, Jacksonville can't. They are projected to be $27 million over the cap. They will still have A.J.Buoy under contract through 2021. Taking advantage of Sam's rookie contract is a priority, Douglas has made that clear. “There’s a sense of urgency to win right now” was his direct quote. We're likely to lose at least one year of the advantage due to a strike in 2021. Look around the league, the top teams have splurged in free agency and making trades to get where the Jets are trying to go.
apparently empty, or this thread wouldnt exist..... I guess he did have enough to pay a guard to stand "watch" though
They were both in the exact position the Jets are currently in before they made those trades. Neither sniffs a Super Bowl without those trades. And Both are still making moves . They capitalized on young QBs on Rookie deals. In fact, the Jets are in a better position then they were . Darnold has more promise than Geoff or Wentz had at this point in their careers. The time to push is now. Not 3 years from now.
Tracked him down and he has agreed to come back and carry on the sterling job he has been renowned for...
I'd give up a 2 at most if we can get a starting caliber CB. I think peterson still wants out of arizona. ramsey is another option.
IMO, the Jets can get an OL or WR prospect with their 1st round pick next year. It's supposed to be a strong class for both positions and they will be needs for us. We should've signed a CB in free agency to make the situation less dire. I know we got Poole, but there were better options available.
he wants 40 mil a year which is 5 mil more then the current highest paid QB (wilson) the QB salaries are becoming insane. The current cap is about 188 million. that's about 21.28& of the total cap on one player. that leaves only 78.72% for the remaining 52 players plus the PS players
I'm probably in the minority but don't see a big need at WR assuming we resign anderson. I think with Q, robby, and crowder as our top 3 we are pretty set and it's not a big need. Both of our starting tackles are free agents after 2019, as is our C. our LG and RG are free agents after 2020. The only possible replacements we have on the roster at any position is edoga
The easy solution is for the owners to increase the revenue share from 48% to 60%. It would bring the cap up to 300 million per team.
Then you're of the opinion that Robbie is a permanent piece of the Jets future. You may be right. I feel the Jets need another WR ( with or without Robbie ) in the mix - either a high pick or a FA signing. The depth isn't so great although Burnett has been turning a few heads in camp. Yes, the OL is gonna be rebuilt pretty much from the ground up over the next year or so. It needs to be. Edoga could be a part of it - maybe even at Guard. LT and C are holes going into next season. The jury is still out on Shell.
