My dude they’re not a kicker away from making the playoffs as they have so many other holes brought on by Macs really poor moves. Hopefully we find more diamonds in the rough because we shouldn’t be trading our future to correct for the mistakes we made in the past.
Well, got the team wrong, but the division right and the draft round right, so two out of three ain't bad, right?
We have enough talent to make the playoffs imo, with a bounce or kick in our favor. Can't underestimate having (or not having) a reliable Kicker. I wouldn't consider a 6th rounder 'trading our future', although the 5th Minn gave up is a little rich for me.
I'm not giving up a 5th for a damn kicker. Who we have no clue can even handle being under the lights of an NFL game
Maybe we should have resigned our Pro Bowl Kicker....The Jets who are void of Pro Bowl talent let both Pro Bowl Special Teams players walk in free agency..We dont value that side of the ball...hopefully Chris Johnson gets hired as the US Ambassadeur to Antartica and they have to sell the team.
This isn't like trading a pick for a veteran. Vedvik is young, cheap, and fulfills a need, so he might as well be a draft pick. So the question is whether you think he'll produce more value than a typical 5th rounder, who isn't worth much. He may not, but it isn't something you can reject out of hand.
I just don’t know why we’re supposed to trust that he’s good. He’s never played in the NFL. We can’t just assume he’ll be a good kicker because he’s had 1.25 solid preseasons.
Is the assumption that he’s good or that he can’t be worse than a typical 5th rounder and so it’s worth the trade to find out?
Good luck to Catanazaro. It must be awful to just lose your skill and/or nerve. Especially to they point of retirement.
The Vikings seem to exist to deny the Jets many players they are targeting. They wrote a really smug and demeaning article about us when they played us and won last year. I have been waiting for the collapse when they realize they’re going nowhere with Cousins and they’re very close to hitting the salary cap.
I'm not confident he'll be good. But I'm also not confident whoever we take in the 5th round next year will be good. And I'm not confident whoever we sign to be our kicker this year will be good. Usually you don't draft a kicker because on average drafted kickers aren't better than undrafted ones. But Vedvik is more promising than the typical drafted kicker. Having said that, Baltimore was smart to trade him now rather than risk him missing a kick in the next preseason game.
Oh did they now? What exactly did they write? They beat a rookie QB? I recall NFL films being in the Vikings locker room after the game when Zimmer announced to the team that for the first time in history the Vikings managed to beat the Jets in NY. This announcement elicited looks of amazement and cheers. Imagine that? They finally beat the powerhouse Jets ? LOL Kirk Cousins is a joke - thankfully Mac got lucky when Kirk turned him down.
