I would imagine he sounds concerned mainly because of the lack of depth at the position. I’m guessing he’ll be OK for opening day but will most likely be held out until then ....
I think we’re gonna see 1-2 moves before opening day regarding CBs. I just hope Douglas doesn’t have to trade away high draft picks ......Im not sure how he can accomplish this. I wonder if Leo is a part of this solution as in a trade?
No. And you can't just throw draft capital away like that...we'll see how the rest of camp goes and if Douglas gets desperate as the coaching staff sees how good (or in this instance) bad the corners are.
You’re not throwing it away if you get a good return. It would have to be an established guy no older than about 27-28. And I’m not talking trading a first rounder. They will have a gaping hole at LT and C (along with CB) this offseason. The would be available player I’m describing doesn’t exactly grow on trees so it’s not very likely to happen anyway. More than likely a somewhat decent CB will be released probably due to past injury or another minor shortcoming. He would have to sneak past AZ and SF and Douglas would pounce.
Wow good for the Ravens to get a 5th rounder for a UDFA kicker. It gives me confidence knowing that JD grew up that org.
Is it rational to blame Eric Tomlinson for Trumaine Johnson getting hurt? No. Am I going to do it? Yes.
"Our corner got hurt running back a pick 6..." "That's so Jets." "...thrown by our QB in practice." "That's so Jets."
I'd bring Matt Bryant in, but it's gotta be worth noting the majority of his career was spent in a dome right?
His FG pct. does drop outdoors but not by that much, his FG pct. outdoors over the last 5 seasons was higher than league average except for 2017.
I like it...new guy comes in and immediately gets into a fight. That's the kind of 'tude we need on the O-line.
This is why the Jets will probably miss the playoffs again. Zero depth. We saw it last year when our starting WR’s dropped like flies. This year it’s CB and OL. The Jets could give up 30+ a game with this groups of CB’s...especially against that early run of QB’s. Asking Darnold to score 40+ per game is a bit much.
nobody has depth anymore in the NFL and every team has some big weaknesses. If the Jets don't make the playoffs, it's more likely because they aren't talented enough at the top.
These injuries and depth issues are exactly why Quinnen Williams was the wrong pick, unless he turns out to be Aaron Donald, which I honestly don't see (Jason Ferguson is actually who he reminds me of). A trade that netted us a couple of mid round picks and a one would have allowed us to pad the secondary to prevent catastrophe. Q is a good dude and a solid player, but Dline is a place we have an abundance right now. This is why Mac is unemployed right now...
Yet again, it’s August. There’s no guarantee anyone who left practice today will miss any game time. The depth is concerning, yes, but we still don’t know to what extent it will be tested.
I’m concerned about CB even if our starters are healthy. Those guys will be tested 40 times a game in their current configuration and I don’t see them holding up. Forget about if the backups are playing..
