I'd be REALLY surprised if the Jets keep them all. Remember they also have Valentine Holmes at the moment. He could win a spot as the returner, or they can stash him on the PS through that international player program, although if they did the latter, he won't be eligible for promotion or to play this season. RB is the easiest position for a player to come in as a rookie or midseason and play. I think that Bell, Montgomery and Powell are probably locks for the team. If Cannon continues to show in TC and preseason, especially if he wins the return job, then he will be on the team. I think McGuire will definitely be the odd man out. Unless he starts making some splashy plays, he just isn't that good a runner. He isn't that fast, nor is he a power back. He's a nice receiver out of the backfield and that's about it. I don't know how good a blocker he is, but even if he is a great blocker, I doubt that would alone would save him from the Turk. They also have Jalin Moore on the PUP list at the moment and he's a power back. They don't have another on the roster. They could possibly keep him on the PS, but someone could sign him. While anything is possible, especially with the Jets, I doubt that Bell, Montgomery and Powell would all go down with serious injuries this season. Even if they did however, if Cannon is on the team and Jalin Moore is on the PS, they should be ok, and could always sign someone off the street.
My post was before I saw the MRI news, I’m going to take the optimistic route here and say it’s precautionary.
My one worry with Crowder was his potential for injury. Hope it is not too bad and he can be ready for Week 1. Don't want to lose valuable reps with Sam though this Training Camp/Preseason.
bells last transgression with the league was august of 2016. he was released from the program a year ago ... https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.c...mature-and-oft-injured-steelers-franchise-tag
No, he was out of the league so his time in the program stopped. Restarted when he returned. Had he been under contract , his time would have been up mid Aug 2018. He will be out of the program soon enough.
I'm confused, did Crowder get injured per the tweet just above ? Nevermind I see mheta was late on the retweet
They just signed Orlando Scandrick to replace a CB that got injured. I guess that Douglas isn't very high on Scandrick, otherwise, it looks like we would have signed Scandrick.
I know, I'm being dramatic on purpose. MRI usually means a bad enough sprain to the point they think there could be ligament damage. With our luck, I'll just assume that's the case.
I agree. McGuire was also Mac's project, however, and Cannon is a good gunner on STs, and has speed that McGuire can only dream about. I think that gives Cannon the edge over McGuire.
Effective immediately, all Jets practices are closed to the public following an incident involving a disturbed person. "Man, we knew that dude was trouble right away," said tackle Kelvin Beachum. "We was watching him in the huddle because he was going up to fans and clearly freaking them out. Scary, man. I think we need better security."
I wonder what happened with the kicker (former Duke kicker) who beat out Catanzaro, but Bowles wouldn't/couldn't pull the trigger on going with him over Catanzaro?
