Yessir. The reason it worked out for Garoppolo is he was coached up to take the reigns (time and effort not normally put into a BU). And it worked out great for NE. Brady kept playing, Garoppolo gets traded for a ransom. So right there's the blueprint. If we have the coaching staff and determination to develop our BU like he'll be taking the reigns in a yr or two, then do it. Then trade him for a ransom to a needy team, and start over. An excellent way to pick up an extra 1st every 3 years! Plus if you spend resources to develop your BU, you'll know pretty quick if he's a dud. If so, cut him quick and start over with a new BU.

First of all, the Pats got a second rounder for Garoppolo, not a first. Second, Garoppolo was the best non-Brady QB the Pats developed in 20 years and the only one who might be a good starter. Developing and trading backup QBs is just not something that regularly happens.
They also used 3 of their own picks to get those players, I think a 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th, to move around. They didn't just use that one 2nd round pick to get those 6. Basically it was one player, Garoppolo, and 3 picks to get 6 players.

So they traded Garrapolo for a very high second pick, then traded down multiple times and ended up with 5 mid and low round picks. They then packaged those 5 with 3 of their own to select a bunch of guys that will likely wash out or be back ups and cheap labor for a few yrs.
