Sorry but Bob Lilly was the most destructive interior lineman I have ever seen and the second closest was a guy named Joe Greene and another named Randy White who were multiple all pro's playing on the inside and were absolute wrecking machines.

Some of the older Jets fans may remember a guy named Buck Buchanan. He was a monster interior lineman. Merlin Olsen was an absolute beast on the inside of one of the most feared DL ever.

FYI they didn't keep stats on sacks until 82 which was a strike shortened year. Randi White in 83, 84 and 85 had 35.5 sacks from the inside. Cortez Kennedy had 14 sacks on a 2 and 14 Seattle team in 1992. He was a beast from the inside.

Donald is a great player. The idea that the NFL hasn't had dominating great interior DL before Donald is nonesense. Joe Klecko was a monster interior lineman.

I said as a pass rusher. There have been dominant IDL’s before but none of them sniff Donald as a rusher.

You're wrong. All those guys killed the QB. He had a breakout year last year. He also played 6 divisional games against 3 teams that QB's were sacked 50 times last year that had atrocious OL in terms of protecting the QB. Not to mention they also played Oakland, MN and Detroit who couldn't protect the QB. Notice that in 4 playoff games against good teams he has a total of .5 sacks.

He did not have a breakout year last year. Here’s an article written 2 seasons ago that was already calling his production “legendary”

This is so far off the mark its embarassing. Sure you wish and pray for a generational, HOF type player. To say it should be expected is totally wrong.
As is thinking if you dont get a HOF like player is "missing" on a pick.

You did somehow manage to play it both ways in one post though.

Fans boooing at the draft. The same morons who booed McNair. Cheered like crazy for Sanchez?

Thats how I rate a draft.

Now, you brought it up. How many years do you in your infinite wisdon believe the LWilliams set the Jets back? Anyone else?

Anyone who actually believes fans, watching highlight videos in the Moms basement can pick players to draft as well or better than paid professionals should run home and perform surgery on themselves too

As long as you dont watch the games, toss aside years in the NFL, you ignore annoying stats like tackles and only look in the sack column

Why would you need to watch him like a hawk if stats are all that matters to you? Go for a walk on Sunday and check the papers Monday morning.

You've been watching football since what, about 2007?

Yup, 2007 exactly. Don’t need to watch 40 years worth of it to know an unparalleled player. Many analysts who have watched football a lot longer than me hold the same opinion.

Mind sharing who these analysts are that say Donald is the best ever interior D lineman?

And it actually does help if you've watched for 40+ years. It's means you've actually seen the players, that you think aren't Donald's equal, actually play.

Twitter search or google “Aaron Donald NFL history” and you’ll find a lot of articles touting his historical greatness

Also I would like to clarify that I didn’t call Donald the best interior D lineman ever. I called him the best pass rushing IDL ever. There have been more complete players and much better run stuffers (he’s not even the best vs the run playing today) but it’s hard to argue against his historical relevance as an interior pass rusher.

Bob Lily was the best interior lineman I've ever seen play...by a good margin.

He was a monster on the field.

It is hard to argue with someone who has only watched football for 12 years when they totally discount players they weren't even alive to see play.

Maybe you have a link to an article that ranks him the "Best pass rushing interior defensive lineman of all time"?

Those come up on the first page when you search the key words I gave you. I could keep linking but it seems pointless considering I gave you the key words I’m drawing from. And if you search the same words on twitter, you’ll see many tweets echoing the same sentiment from people who are far older than me and were alive to see the other greats.

Well I see nothing in those two articles that say he is the best ever pass rushing interior lineman, in fact the one article states.

"Randle would bulk up to a reported 287 pounds while retaining his best athletic attributes. He would become one of the best interior pass rushers in NFL history, and a Hall of Fame inductee. In his most prolific season, he produced an NFL-leading 15½ sacks."

Nothing ever said about Donald being the best.

I never claimed Donald was not great, just that you are too young and are only comparing him to players you have seen play since 2007, which is a very narrow minded point of view.

You said multiple analysts have proclaimed he is the best ever, should be easy to pull up at least two articles that say as such.
