Congrats Ranger fans you just traded for Trouba and did not give up much at all = JACOB TROUBAD, NEW YORK RANGERS The Winnipeg Jets have traded Jacob Trouba to the New York Rangers for Neal Pionk and a first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Trouba is scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July 1st and it sounds like this deal was made without the Rangers having an extension in place. Winnipeg is strapped for cap space, so they likely figured they wouldn't be able to sign Trouba at the price he was demanding. The 25-year-old put up eight goals and 50 points in 82 games this season with the Jets. This seems like a bit of an underwhelming return for a player of Trouba's caliber. The first round pick the Jets are receiving is their own, which they sent to the Rangers as part of the trade for Kevin Hayes.
Rangers give up: - 1 month of Kevin Hayes - Neal Pionk - 2nd round pick - 3rd round pick In exchange for: - Jacob Trouba - Brendan Lemieux - Adam Fox
CBG, I don't think they would trade for him w/o the intention of signing him long term, he's too good a player
Problem is his agent is hockey's version of Scott Boras - only more of a hardass. He's going to be looking for the NBA equivalent of "max money"
Gorton's moves since February, plus we're getting eithrt Kakko or Hughes, and he signed the two Russians (Igor & Kravtsov):
Cuckoo for Kaapo Kakko but the forward lines are starting to look a little thin right about now esp. with Kreider and Vessey rumored to be following in Hayes' trade footsteps.... .
