I absolutely am not a stat sheet guy. I was just giving you one example. The tape from that game is far worse than the stat sheet anyway. Williams was Cleveland's bitch. Clevelands.... smh

very true in many ways, Leonard Williams has been fairly consistent since he's been here. consistently underwealming.

But I will say the effort was a little more consistent his rookie year. If there's a "fall" its related to his effort, were talkin' whole quarters of coasting. His whole demeanor has changed as well. More excuse making than when he first got here

Leonard is going to have a good season, not because he's in a contract year, but because he has help on the interior again, and won't have to take all the double teams. He can't do it all himself.

I think he gives good effort, but his technique has flaws.

Look I'm trying to be nice. Its obvious that you don't have a clue of what youre talking about with Leo, or the game if you are going to sit here like Stevie Wonder claiming he hasn't been doubled.

Exactly one example. That doesn't necessarily tell the whole story and certainly doesn't make a career.

Heres the thing, I can go through every single HOF players career and find games where they didnt show up on a stat sheet.

well duh... wtf does that have to do with anything? Leonard Williams doesn't have hall of fame production like they do, not even close

browning nagle threw for 3 interceptions one game. But one game doesn't define his career, Brett Favre threw for 3 interceptions in a game too. What is my point? why did I compare browning nagle to a half of Famer?

Well duh, whats the point? How about that one game isnt a career. I thought I was pretty clear. You brought up one game where he had a clean stat sheet, decided that was proof that he wasnt trying and is lazy. YOU, not me, I didnt bring it up.

Are you that hung up on making a point that you cant think straight?

Now, your homework assignment. Find all the many articles (its obvious to all right?) talking about Leo being a dog. All the ones that say hes fat and overweight. All the ones that claim he doesnt try and is just a lazy player. Its NYC. Its the most cut throat, goading media anywhere on the planet. No one has mentioned this. He needs to step it up and become the player they all thought he would be. Lazy, not a one. A dog, nope.

    Double teamed? Plenty of those.

the beat writers would never call a player "lazy" or "fat" or "a dog." their jobs are to get close to the players so they can write articles about the team they cover. If they called Leonard Williams a fat lazy dog, whether they thought it or not, they would have a hard time doing their jobs in that locker room

    https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2018/...-metrics-dont-look-good-for-leonard-williams/

Traditional stats, advanced metrics don't look good for Leonard Williams

It has not been pretty for Jets defensive end Leonard Williams so far in 2018.

New York’s top pass rusher has been quiet through the first three games despite a surprisingly impressive start from New York’s defensive line as a whole. Williams has not looked good on film and the numbers back that up. According to Pro Football Focus, Williams’ 71.5 defensive grade ranks 43rd out of 122 qualified interior defensive linemen. His 3.6 pass rushing productivity rating ranks tied for 56th.

Past PFF’s fancy metrics, Williams’ struggles can be seen by his presence, or lack thereof, in a regular box score. In 23 of his last 28 games, Williams has not recorded a sack. He failed to appear in the box score against the Cleveland Browns after playing 65 snaps and did not register a tackle against the Detroit Lions in Week 1, either. Williams did have a good game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2, registering six tackles, but the bad has outweighed the good.

So far in 2018, Williams has those six tackles, zero sacks and two stuffs. He’s facing a bunch of double teams, but the Jets need Williams to figure it out soon.

This is a defensive line in desperate need of some leadership and while Williams has provided it in the locker room, the unit needs a leader on the field as well. His struggles hurt New York’s chances at stopping the run and with the schedule ramping up in the coming weeks, Williams’ services will be required more now than ever.

The Jets really need a big year out of Williams, especially after he underwhelmed a season ago. Williams needs that, too, as it will soon be time for him to negotiate a new contract. He’s a free agent after the 2019 season, but he hasn’t done anything to warrant a significant payday.

It will be interesting to see just how much money the Jets would be willing to spend on him if he doesn’t start putting up better numbers — advanced or otherwise.

The crux of it is rather simple.

Has Leonard Williams played up to his draft position?

The upside is that he's young & healthy.
He's got some new players to take some of the attention away from him.

If Greg Williams can't get more out of him...he'll probably be gone next year.

    Really?

They never would because? You say so? What a line of nonsense. Dont remember Mo? Manish saying he was fat, didnt train in the off season? Nah? How about that Bell had ballooned to 265lbs? Nah?

Even if I gave you this nonsense, let them off for being beat writers, how about the national media? You know those same assclowns who ripped the Jets for firing Macc when they did, called it a calamity, clown show, etc, etc. Where are their reports that hes a dog? Crickets from them.

On one side I hear Bart Scott, other ex players, all talk about Leo being doubled every play. The other side, someone on the internet the cute Browning Nagle moniker sees it differently.

Excuse me if I defer to my eyes and those who are paid to watch

That was the first three games of 2018. Overall, Williams finished 30th among PFF's defensive lineman.
