I wish every other GM would have. Maybe Macc should have traded down. But not one of those so called GM's made an offer to get that guy. That tells me alot. The position is not that valued by many GM and Williams plays a position you can get good value in the 3rd or 4th round.
QWill is gonna be a great player. Really good interior force. It’s weird because a lot of us wanted to move down and Macc did as well. Gase also according to things I read and heard. I’m not sure what happened but right after he picked QWill he punched his ticket to termination.
Hmm... rumor starting up that Todd McShay will be joining Douglas's staff. Portnoy is the creator/owner of Barstool Sports
I think the Johnsons can afford it. And honestly, 3 mil per year sounds low for a GM. I mean, he's responsible for constructing the team. 3 mil is about what backup QBs make.
Portnoy is an idiot and Barstool sucks, but I’m more than fine with bringing any of these guys who have spent years scouting and researching every damn player in the draft.
I don’t know how this is gonna turn out but we got the top GM candidate and the guy we wanted so that’s all you can ask. We didn’t fuck it up and don’t ever call our owners cheap. This ain’t the Mets. I give CJ all the credit for firing Mac knowing the optics would not be good. He made a mistake by not firing him with Bowles but the easier decision would of been to wait till after the season. I don’t think Woody would of done it because he’s to worried about the media reaction. And let’s be honest it’s all about Sam. Gase doesn’t take this job if Mccown and Webb are our qbs and same for Douglas. It all starts with having a young qb. Now let the man do his job and stay the fuck out of the way Johnson’s. F Woody and stay in Europe
The reason we fired Mac and hired Douglas is because you can find impact players beyond the sixth pick in the draft. Mac couldn’t and he’s gone. We still have over 20 million left over from this year. Are issue had been finding players beyond the first pick so no it’s not to late.
The problem isn’t the money. The problem is if it doesn’t work out with Douglas and Johnson doesn’t want to fire him because he wants to honor the first contract. It hurts your reputation around the league if you do not honor front office and coaches contracts, which ours just took a dip anyway.
I'm currently on vacation in Tenerife and this was such great news to wake up to. Now we have a great GM who knows about scouting and the draft and who knows the HC and what he wants. I'm sure he will soon have the other staff positions filled and will sort our our scouting department too. I can't stop smiling about what we have done and cannot wait for pre season to start, time for a celebratory drink or three!
The fact that Douglas is friends with both McShay and Daniel Jeremiah is interesting. Lends a little credence to my idea that he was such a “highly respected” candidate because he has a lot of friends in the media. Hopefully that wasn’t the only reason.
Apparently Douglas is also a long time friend of Portnoy. Douglas sure seems to know a lot of people.
Great, so his first move is to create a bullshit position called VP of Personal for his friend? Fire the bum! (the dripping sound is sarcasm)
Great point. Was thinking the same, if nothing else he's already shown good negotiating skills (unless he truly was hesitant to take this job).
The duke was compared to Aaron Donald. Interior or exterior, the Jets needed both and they drafted both. Polite had 1st round grades but a bad combine. The defense will be just fine. Leonard Williams is going to have a year similar to 2016 when he made the pro bowl. Bank on it. I'm more concerned about the offense. It was Jonah Williams that got manhandled in that game, not Quinnen. After that game Q's stock rose while Jonah's plummeted.
