Meh, it wasn’t like mahomes was a consensus top pick and we passed on him for a safety. There were plenty of holes in his scouting report. This isn’t a Thomas over reed or Brady over sapp type pick. Not even close.
No. I'm saying that the person who selected Adams when he could've had Mahomes doesn't know talent. And also saying that anyone who argues that taking a Safety over a potential FQB doesn't understand impact of position value.
That's true, which surprises me all the more that so many evaluators would undervalue him. But I won't hijack this thread any further. I'm glad that Adams is at least living up to his hype.
The expression is "take flak" not "take slack". Flak...like flak guns... Also...your posts are kinda frothy. You ok?
MVP is great and all, but superbowls are really the only thing that matters. Chiefs didn't get there.
That was 99.9% the defense's fault, the Chiefs lost 37-31. Against a Pats defense that shut the Rams down in the Super Bowl. Mahomes was as good as it gets, if the QBs were swapped the Pats would have won in a blowout.
We're no talking about Mahomes...we're talking about the stupidity of not taking him when you needed a FQB, and then having to burn valuable draft picks to make up for that mistake. Sure, having Sam and Adams is nice, but having Mahomes and the other pieces they could've had would've been better.
At the end of the day, the Chiefs did not win the sb. It doesn't matter whose fault it is. Ultimate goal is to win a Super bowl.
If Sam takes care of business, no one will care that we traded 3 2nd rounders. Adams is amazing and I am glad we have him and Sam on the roster. They are turning this team around
Still boggles my mind that people pretend Mahomes would be the Mahomes we know if the Jets drafted him and inevitably played him too early with no talent around him in a terrible offense. That’s just not a smart thing to pretend is reality.
QBs are ultimately judged on SBs and not the MVP (an award usually favors the QB to begin with). Wherever that is fair or not is another discussion.
I disagree that QBs are ultimately judged on SBs. Some people judge them on SBs but then those people out themselves as Pats fans or people who don't understand that football is a team game. Back to the original point, unless Darnold proves he can be as good as Mahomes or at least close to it, Jets fans will still talk about Mahomes.
No one uses MVP as an indicator. Anytime someone brings up who the best QBs in the league, they always bring up SBs. Why do you think the Marinos get the short end of the stick, while the Elways are glorified?
..and considering he was a league MVP in just his 1st season as a starter, Patrick Mahomes is far more likely to win a Super Bowl than both Sam Darnold and Jamal Adams.
