He may or may not have learned all his Lessons from Miami..but anyone the Jets could have hired as HC doesnt have bottom of the barrel talent to work with right now...,maybe a couple of holes to fill yes. But he wants to win now which wasnt Bowles mantra Some posters just miss the glaring fact of how there is a decidedly greater upgrade in the personnel he had in Miami eg Tannyhill Cutler and the rest of his roster Miami didnt have the amount of money the Jets had to spend on players like Bell and Mosely nor a FQB like Darnold (who some posters here still have no faith in smah) plus with the additions of Crowder together with Enunwa and Robbie this team has firepower (on paper for sure) Defense will come along fine as well
I'm giving Gase every benefit of the doubt at this point. The situation in Miami has been blown way out of proportion. In fairness, a lot of die hard dolphin fans with in depth knowledge of the game much like many of the folks here hated, yes hated to see him go. Does he have an ego? hell yes, but he is very, very talented. Unlike the absolute undisciplined and over their heads CS we had before. Gase inherited in Miami a bottom of the barrel roster, sprinkled with a few talented but malcontent stars that did not like to be told what to do. He did a pretty damned good job with the one and only limited QB while healthy. The ownership believe it or not, is far worst that ours, and he was further encumbered with all the administrative BS of the GM that goes with personnel salary and negotiations in addition to personnel roster. Yet he made them more competitive than us last year. Here he is inheriting a a far better personnel grouping, a potential FQB in the making, arguably a much better CS, and a new GM that will work hand in glove with him. He has passion and he has fire and he has knowledge and he is willing to think out of the box, and so does his fiery defensive coordinator. He will not put up with the BS Bowles allowed with his players. Gase will brake some glass in the process, but at least we will see fireworks and passion on the field.....not the same old boring and predictable BS game plan of the past. Cant wait.
Cimini reported it yesterday. Definitely heard it from someone else first but according to him it's been a rumor for awhile. We'll see what happens but I didn't pull it out of thin air.,
Could be. It all depends if Chris is sold on one of them and is satisfied that guy is the right man. He could still want to interview others. There's the guy from the Niners who is considered by many in the media as the 2nd best GM candidate out there, and he might want to interview Elliot Wolf. Hopefully, he's sold on Douglas and will announce the hire tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. I'm sure that he'll want to wait at least a day or two so that it shows Kelly the proper respect and at least gives the appearance that he fully considered Kelly.
Gase has been targeted for unwarranted adulation? How odd. Does someone here have his direct line? I’d like to let him know that he’s doing a fine job so far.
I don't believe that's true at all. Mostly folks, here and certainly elsewhere have been ripping the Jets for the Gase hiring. You are just providing the consensus opinion for the most part New coaches usually always get a 'honeymoon' and Gase hasn't gotten that. I'm fine with it actually, 'the put up or shut up' mentality is far better. Its time to expect more
Yep. That may be true for the majority but there is a near-militant handful here who find it very difficult to adopt the wait-and-see attitude and lash out at anyone suggesting that course of action or questioning unfounded claims of greatness. Very often that group finds themselves attempting to support today's guy by declaring his superiorty to losers of the past.
Fact: Gase, the Coach has a losing record in the NFL. Fact: Gase, the Coach has a history of interpersonal conflicts. Do you disagree with these or is there something else I said?
That's the good thing about Kotite and Winner each having a page in Jets history - there's always somebody worse than the guy you have today.
Those are facts. So what. Belicheck was 36-44 in his first stint as a head coach. And we could cite “fact” after “fact” of coaches across the NFL having interpersonal conflicts with players. Astute observers look at the full suite of data, often conflicting, and arrive at meaningful conclusions. It’s clear you focus primarily on the data that suits your already formed conclusion. Arguably there is a lot more data to suggest he will be successful here than not (innovator, motivator, team first guy, holds people accountable, etc). None of us know whether he will be successful, so it’s wait and see for all of us. It’s how we see the full suite of data that gives us the optimism versus the pessimism.
