What Gase power hungry actions? I can see some GM's not wanting to have the HC separate from the GM but that was the case before Mac was fired. Gase didn't fire Mac, Johnson did. Mac didn't hire Gase, Johnson did. The Jets organization doesn't have the HC reporting to the GM or the GM reporting to the HC. That was the exact situation before Mac was fired. If the premise is no good GM would work with that power structure, that's a good argument to fire Mac. Obviously if Mac was willing to take the job initially on the same basis, he would fit right into Vacchiano and others who think most qualified GM's wouldn't take the job In other words Mac deserved to be fired by that logic alone. Here's a thought. Maybe there's a qualified GM who would have hired Gase as his Head coach who is both qualified and wants the job?
See line two of my Post for the definition of job security...which like I said is winning and Playoffs (the Scoreboard) You continue to inject your "power" concerns with your comments Why do you expect continuous " weaseling around for power" and who is "putting something over on Management"? Do you feel powerless sometimes? Perhaps it's your own projection here
Yeah, I was agreeing with you regarding job security coming from winning, silly me. But you're not the only guy here and more than one has played up the power struggle that either they see or they anticipate - that's what my post was about, I've never given that theory much creedence. Why are you so defensive? I didn't say anything about you. Take off the blinders and read what I wrote, respond to that not what you think I have in my head. The freshman Psych 101 is lame and it's tiresome; it detracts from anything cogent you might have to say. Try to stay on subject, and that's not me.
Gase could pass him by week 2 Todd Bowles 24 wins in 4 seasons. Adam Gase 23 wins in 3 seasons. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/BowlTo0.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/GaseAd0.htm
I don't understand how Gase questioning the GMs actions is him being power hungry or even construed as a negative. If anything it highlights the inadequacies of both Macc and Bowles, who happily sat on his thumbs while Mac failed at building a roster. I'm astonished that a NFL GM would blindly build a roster without input from the HC and that a NFL HC would accept it.
I read an article that mentioned that the head coaching search was a total shit show which is how Gase ended up with the job in the first place. They speculated that this was part of the reason Mac was let go.
The rumor was Mac wanted McCarthy. Jets dodged a bullet considering all of the information that has come out about McCarthy.
